Has anyone used the seatfoam from DJ Motorsports when you redone your seats. They advertise that it is 3 times more dense than standard seat foam, I was wondering how it was for comfort and if there was any problem installing seat covers on it since it is so dense. I want to redo my seats and just wanted some opinions from anyone who has used this foam.

I chimed in on an earlier thread regarding new skins and seat foam. Winter 2010/2011 mods planned include new interior seat skins/foam and I would like to improve on the original GM foam as well. I know VE sells seat foam as well as the other vendors. My question is whether it's all the same GM foam? This is the first time I've seen a vendor referenced who claims to have better foam. DJ also just has the seat foam and not the lower back/side support foam.
Did you notice any difference from the original OEM foam? Since Gene sells GM foam, I'm wondering if the newer/current foam is any different than the original foam from the assembly line...
My lower seat foam from DJ Motorsports should be delivered to me today. I was wondering the same thing but went ahead and ordered it. I am only replacing the driver's side lower seat foam and keeping the stock seat covers. I will chime in once I attempt to install the new foam.
I was thinking about doing the same. My covers are pretty good still, just a little scuffing on the side bolster. I'll be interested to see some before and afters. Are you going to chronicle the project with pics for your fellow corvetters??

Ha. I will! I just don't know when I will be able to get to it. It may be a few weeks.

I'll give you my take real quick.
Though your skins look "pretty good" in your eyes now, I would suggest at least ordering new ones prior to your install (I'm sure there's a refund policy in place if they were never installed).
Honestly, I went through the same thought process and until you see the used next to the new, well, it's day and night.
Last winter I replaced the drivers side bottom seat foam with a new one from VE. I cannot say enough good things about the service at that place! Class Act!
The seat springs had cut completely through the original foam, like a hard boiled egg slicer.
A tip for anyone replacing the bottom foams:
Place something over the seat springs to prevent them from cutting into the new foam. I used one of my wife's old yoga mats. It is a really dense durable foam mat.

Believe me, I'd love to have new seat skins, but I just can't justify spending that kind of money on the car right now. Maybe later. Right now, my lower driver's seat is flat as a pancake....and I didn't know how bad it was until I sat in the passenger seat last week. I thought, "wow, this is one comfortable seat!"
Agree, it's just those darned $$$$$$$$ that get in the way. I'll eventually do the seats in total but I only have 40k miles on it right now. Looks like the last owner was a bit wider than me, the sides on the seat bottom are crushed. No cracks in the leather though, just need a good cleaning and conditioning.

This will also firm up the seat a little.
That was another one of my thoughts that the denser foam would't cut through the springs. Did the dense foam mat make the seat any firmer or effect the comfort during a long ride.
