I want to add either the Skid Plates or the Granatelli Front Bumper Savers with Rollers to the skid bars on the front of my C5 (before I scrape it and the front bumber cover any more).
Who has tried either?
Who has tried both?
Do they prevent scrapes to the front bumper cover?
I like the look of the Skid Plates since they are not seen as easily as the Rollers - but I want what will provide the best protection.
Also, on GScreationsllc.com, I found a set of Skid Plate Wheels that has 2 wheels per side. has anyone tried these?
I purchased the "Fangs" because of the god awful scrape sound that pierced my eardrums everytime my front rail would scrape the driveway at my brother's house....
I almost pulled the trigger on the "Fat Momma" rollers when I saw the post for these Fang thingies.....they have a site where they post videos of these puppies in action on a concrete car bumper.....these things are pretty tough...
Another thing is that I did NOT have to drill trough my rails to install them!
The install was easy.....took me less that 30 minutes.....and that is getting the tools and putting everything away.
So, the FANGS would be my recommendation.
As far as the front bumper, I'm assuming you are talking about the air dam underneath..it is spring loaded and can scrape with no problems....it also relatively inexpensive to replace....but DON'T take it off or you will overheat your engine! This forces air when you are moving into the radiator area.
I got the Fatt Daddys, after talking to Mr Bill & seeing his on his Vette,I got to say I like how they work. And I can put the car right to the wheel stops in parking lots & instead of a scrape or drag I can feel when the wheels hit the stop and lift the front of the car, then its just roll back till the front ends down. Just my 0.2 cents
A & A Corvette installed front rollers on my 2004 four years ago and I would do it again. They not only work on driveways, but curbs and curb stops. I check them every so often and they look like the day they were installed. I think the position of the rollers is important. Vette is a DD with 125,000 miles. The frame saver rails were installed at the same time.

Fangs
Hi,
Here is a link to the Fangs. They give full protection of the
skid bars without losing any noticeable ground clearance.
They will also be available in black in about 2 weeks.
Check out the video of us thrashing the Fangs. http://www.saccitycorvette.com/Fangs.html
Thanks,
Christian

I installed the pre-bent and coated with a tough surface skid plates and they attach with two screws into the radiator suppport, They work just like the 'Fangs' do. but the fangs were invented when I installed my skid plates.

Black Fangs!
Hi,
We have had many request for Black Fangs. The people have spoken and we listened!
Just wanted to let you know that we will have Black Fangs in 1 or 2 weeks. Only draw back is the Black Fangs will require one small screw to be installed. We will supply the bit and stainless self tapping screw. As you know the white Fangs do not require any drilling and are in stock. If you would prefer black you can pre order and we will put you on the first come first serve list and will send them ASAP!.
Those of you that bought white Fangs and prefer black Fangs PM me.
Thanks
Christian

Just out of curiosity, why the hardware change from white to black?
From: Should this thoughtful, valuable contribution meet with no acknowledgement or 'thanks' this post----
there are other alternatives...I made my own out of galvanized steel, bent them to shape, then attached them with VHT tape...works great/ costs almost nothing!

Hi,
The white could be purchased extruded so it had the lips that clip over.
The black comes in sheet form and is put in a different type mold that doesn’t allow for the lips that clip over. Even though the Fangs look simple and easy to make like some people have suggested. It is actually pretty difficult working with this type of tuff plastic. Even with molds it still doesn’t like to cooperate. It has a mind of its own. It been a real task refining things to get it right.
