Default Quick question for those with C6 rims...

Are there any issues with the stock, OEM C6 rims when placed on C5's in terms of fitment or appearance? Do they maintain the ratio between the rim/tire and the fenderwell lip that the OEM C5 rims do? Any need for spacers or the like?

Looking into whether it'll be better to purchase OEM C6 rims and have them chromed or purchasing chromed repro's from a forum vendor. Thanks guys...

They fit fine but you'll want to space out the rears for asthetics as they have less offset then the C5 OEMs do...

West Coast Corvettes has some great looking Z06 chrome spyder wheels that will fit your C5.

While searching online, I noticed the C5 offset is 54mm front and 56mm rear. When looking at the reproduction C6 rims, if the offset is the same should the fitment and "look" in relation to rim/tire and fenderwell alignment be the same? Or will the style of rim change that?

To be specific I'm looking at the C6 5-spoke style rim. The C5 sizes of 17" front/18" rear have the same offset. The desired sizes of 18" front/19" rear have an offset of 56mm front and 68 mm rear. Does that mean they will look "pushed out" from the fenderwell?

simple rule of thumb...the lower the offset number, the more the wheel sticks out. the stock GM offset of 79mm for a C6 wheel is exactly 1 inch farther IN if used on a C5...therefore, it will look like crap. a 1/4" spacer is the maximum you can go without changing out the wheel studs. But it will still have a slight inboard look on the C5.

This is correct. Also, depending upon tire size mounted on the rims, you can have issues with the C6 wheels rubbing on the inside of the wheel well of a C5. However, stock C6 tire sizes on stock C6 rims will fit, but the rears will be sitting inboard of the fenders.

Actually, there is hardly any difference in the appearance of C5 and C6 wheels in relation to the rear wheel well.

This is a stock C5 polished rear wheel on my C5.

This is an OEM C6 rear wheel, with no spacer, in the same wheel well.

These aren't the best of pictures but this is with 12mm spacers all around;

Hey, if you don't like it without spacers you can always add em later...

WOW; quite a mixture on responses... "stock, OEM C6 rims" "repro C6 rims".

Like mentioned earlier, "stock OEM C6 rims"... the fronts have the same offset as the original C5 rims; but the rears do not.

I measured the offset on the factory C5 rear rims - compared to the C6 factory rea rims - and found 7/16 difference... to where the C6 rear rims would sit inward compared to the factory C5's.

I too went with the cheap 1/4" plate-spacers on the rears.

Thanks for all the responses and the education on how the offset works in relation to published numbers/figures. Is there a forum vendor who sells the spacers?

True, the different offset on the C6 rear rims will cause them to set in about 7/16 inch and on some C5s will cause them to rub, thus requiring spacers. However, the fact that the C6 wheels are 1/2 inch wider makes them look about the same in the wheel wells.

I missed that..good point. I was using simple arithmetic, and not doing actual measurements. 79mm - 56mm=23mm, or approximately 1 inch (25.4mm) inboard. Interesting that in reality it is only 7/16", just under a half inch as opposed to just under 1 inch. The missing 1/2" must be due to rim width variation between rear sizes, 18x9.5 and 19x10, no?

Ya know, I'm the opposite; couldn't do the math. And since I seem to never trust published numbers on the internet; I made a direct measurement while I had both the rims side-by-side. I saw 7/16" difference measuring from the rim center inside surface (the surface that butts-up against the hub) the edge of the rims outer lip; had to use a straightedge laying across the rim for this.
