Default Rattling glove compartment

'04, 26k miles. In the last 2 days my glove compartment has started to rattle badly. It drives me nuts. It's obviously plastic and/or plastic rubbing together. Looked around underneath but saw nothing obvious. Anyone else had this issue, and if so how did you resolve it?

It also decides on occasion it's not going to shut. I've always been able to get it to finally latch, but it's weird how it just suddenly happens occasionally.

TIA

same thing on my '04. I got some foam self adhesive door weatherstripping for the house and cut a couple 3 inch pieces and stuck them to the inside top edge corners of the glove box. No more rattle.

I have had this same problem. I don't know what causes it, but if you pull the handle again, it will allow you to close it...

It's caused by the latch mechanism springing back closed by itself during the process of opening. Pulling the handle an additional time opens the mechanism, allowing it to close properly again.

Anyone who has been skiing enough has likely experienced a similar phenomenon. When you crash, sometimes a ski will pop off without fully disengaging the binding. Before reattaching the ski, one has to manually disengage the binding.

Do you know of any possible fix so that it doesn't automatically spring back to the closed position?

Thanks

Nope. But simply pulling the handle that additional time is easy enough, as you already know.
