Help for my Friend "Check Engine Light "
I have a friend with a 2002 Z06 and his check engine light come on because of a bank one and two lean condition. We've search the forum for answer but everything we tried seem not to work. So on that note I told him we need to start our own thread because he's at the point of trading the car in. I asked him to send me a write up of everything he did to the car. I hope this helps. We need advice soon. He plans to take the car back to Heritage Cheverlet on Tuesday Sept 7th.
"I went to advance earlier and had the codes pulled here they are P0171 and P0174 bank one and two lean condition. I drove the car tonight and the engine light turned itself off that's when i had the codes pulled. the car is stock except for the vararam cold air intake. I had a fuel filter put on by victory Lane and an intake gasket done by Heritage . Heritage said the intake was leaking on the rear right side before the intake gasket install. They also told me that the lean condition could mess up my valves. So right now the light is off, but it still goes back to Heritage Tuesday morning. I also need to know if this is harming my engine as I drive. I don't think so, but who knows......I'm really thinking about buying a different air intake system."
Sorry for the long thread. Any help would be great.
BTW: I've sent him a link to this thread so any info or ideals you all have he will be able to read and try it for himself.
Thanks

When's the last time he bought fuel?
If the fuel cap isn't put on just right it will cause a loss in vaccum and the "engine light" will come on.
At this point we are welling to hear and try anything that would save him money before the dealership get's a hold of his wallet.

Most scanner devices do NOT show the C5 unique codes.
Many CAI's can result in the lean codes. I've seen many threads on the Forum about the Vararam in particular.
If you truly have lean codes. i.e. P0171 and P0174, then you need to look for some problem that will affect both banks. Check all air intake connections for security, especially around the MAF and TB. Also inspect all the vacuum lines for security, routing, cracks, etc.

He received the Halltech Honeycomb screen. He installed it today. We took the car out for a second after clearing the Codes. No check engine light as of right now. Time will tell.

That's what the forum is all about. You ask for help and people contribute their best. May not solve your issue, but at least you get options to check....for FREE, and usually someone nails it.
I'm always happy to receive ANY ideas to look at. At the very least, you can then rule the non-effective ones out.

Yes Sir. Bam Vette. With out the forum I'm sure he would of dropped another 500 to 1000 dollars at the stealership and still wouldn't have the problem fix. Before I posted this question he spent about $800 dollars trying to fix it thru the stealership. And a week later the code would come back. All I have to say is God bless the forum and all the amazing people on it.
