I know the Z06 comes without the runflats, but I just want to confirm that there are no other sensors in the wheels. I was talking to a local tire guy here about swapping out my stock wheels for the chrome replacements and he suggested I buy an extra set of sensors in case the originals got damaged during the swap. I told him the Z06 does not have the runflats but he still thought there were some kind of sensors in there. Am I wrong?
The reason I wanted to go to this guy is because he has a Hunter machine for balancing. He claims he has done several Vettes and is aware of how to lift them without damaging them...thanks for any imput :D
To save weight the sensors were not used in the Z06. I wouldn't mind if they included them though, but with the supplied pencil type pressure guage GM gives you, I check pressure at every fill up. :D Congratulations on the new car and soon to be retirement.
While recently changing out my ZO6 rotors, I noticed an electronic sensor attached to the A strut which resembles the tire monitor sensor I had on my 99 coupe, does anyone know what this sensor does? is it part of the tire sensor sysyem without the wheel sensors??
That is the wheel speed sensor, used for the antilock brakes, the traction control, and the antiskid system. Some cars also use them for tire pressure indication, as tires (of the same size) that rotate slower are overinflated, and ones that rotate faster are underinflated. That is the system Pontiac uses in the Grand Prix and others.
Saving41, weight my butt, it's all about saving MONEY!
:nono: :nono:
No sensors in the Z06 was strickly a decision to reduce weight! The Z06 is the most expensive Corvette, no one was cutting corners on that car to cut costs, every reduction on the Z was to reduce weight!
