Default reset after oil change

after doing my first oil and filter change to my c5 and attempting my reset on the display, it didn't take. what's the proper procedure, please ?

Default Easiest method to reset oil life monitor

Turn the key to the on position, no start. Then press the accellerator pedal to the floor three times.

Key to On engine off. Cycle to Oil Monitor and press and hold Reset until it puts --- then release.

I use the gas pedal trick... and say vroom vroooom VROOOOMMMMM then laugh maniacally
