I'm going to look at a 2001 Corvette near me that has some pretty serious cosmetic damage, and am unsure what a realistic price should be for it. It is a 6 speed, torch red t-top with 80k on it. The damages are: the car was keyed and needs repainted, tires slashed, and seats cut up. I'm figuring this stuff would cost ~$5000. Plus my time getting everything lined up and done, as well as routine tune up stuff that I'm sure will need, or should be, done. The guy was asking $9500, but said to come take a look at it...I'm thinking more in the $6500 ballpark? Thanks for the input.
yea, I didn't even think about that at all...but yeah, it was his crazy ex lol. It's not even that amazing of a deal, it's just that I'd love to find something local. It would take me almost up to the cost of what I could buy one for, but I figure then it will look almost brand new.
hmmm, I agree with you. Gives you the chance to have a vette with brand new seats and a fresh paint job. If its mechanically sound and as long as you can negotiate a fair price.
If the interior smells like urine though walk away......
I think you're looking at closer to $7500 for all that you mention, unless you have a friend in the body business. If not, the $6500 price range is more realistic. What's the status of the title? If it's a Salvage Title, that's not a stigma you want associated with the car when it comes time to sell it.
You can find decent cars with similar miles and fewer issues for $13-$15K.
