Default Drivers Seat

I'm thinking about re-doing the bottom foam on my drivers seat. The leather is in fine condition the only issue is the cushion is compacted some, from us big guys with big seats So if I remove it and just replace the bottom cushion I think I am good. Sound like something that can get done Where can I get a bottom cushion, or do I need to buy some whole kit? Any thoughts thanks.

Did the same thing to mine. Bought new foam and used origianal leather. Find a good upholstery shop and be sure they put something between the springs and the foam. Mine used a piece of carpet.

Thanks, assume you took the seat out and delivered it to them, and they did the work? If I can ask the ball park for cost so I have something to base an estimate on. Thanks again, great idea.

You can pull the seat out and pull the bottom cushon off and use this product to replace the foam your self:

I have this foam and though I'm not all that big, it is significantly better than the original foam ever was even when new.

Here is a link about removing the seat and removing/installing the foam and cover yourself if you are up to a few hours of work:

That looks like a great find..
What I did was buy new foam from Gene Culley at the GM parts house... I then took the old foam, and cut off the skirt.. I then put the new foam over the old foam and made the seat twice as dense...

When you say cut off the skirt, what do you mean. Just cut off all the old piece and save the bottom pad, then place the new one over the top? Is it hard to get the cover back over the new bottom cushion? Or is it stretched enough by now to be reasonably easy?

Try contacting Matt at Vette Essentials. I know they sell seat foam and may sell just the bottom piece.

I bought just the bottom foam from VE last winter and replaced it. As mentioned, cut a square of carpet and put it between the foam and the metal springs.
