Can an odometer be rolled back?
Just curious because an AutoCheck report showed my C5 Z06 Vette has an obvious error. From 123,500 miles - 01/26/2007 to 23,780 miles - 04/25/2007. I have no doubt the original owner didn’t scam me just wondering if it could be done using a Tech II or such?

Sorry if this is seen as a stupid question. :o
To answer your question, yes it is possible. All it takes is the right software/skill to hack it.
The person (tech) who was recording the miles on the inspection may have had kilometers showing instead of miles... that happens often and it's a pain to get the correction on Carfax.
The dealer can program miles backwards or forwards, but they won't do it unless you have a valid (legal) reason.
Some people have swapped in a cluster with different miles showing...

lol, looks like someone just missed the 1..
the car came back 280 miles later and the tech or whatever just forgot the 123,780 and accidentally put 23,780
I know there's plenty of widespread fraud out there but it was probably just a fat finger. The real problem is trying to get it corrected with the reporting bureaus.
just swap out the instrument cluster from another C5 car ... C5 only - and you get that other cars mileage - but not C6. C6 the mileage is in the computer and not the cluster, same as 07 and up chevy trucks
I swapped gauge clusters in my '99 when i added HUD. My odometer had over 150k on it and the donor cluster had <20k. I simply opened up each cluster and swapped the odometer modules. Now my original odometer is in the HUD gauge cluster.
