Default Just Gauging Interest folks :)

Just gauging interest folks ... but with a virtually new drivetrain (built auto) in a 98 C5 Vert with about 61k miles on the body, what can I expect to get for it? Dynoed at over 400rwhp and runs low/mid 11's. It is torch red with z06 rims, lowered, etc. Not wild at all and all work was done at a pro performance shop.

I realize that I am dealing with a *very* specialized group of folks who want a vert / auto / modified car, but it is docile enough a granny could drive (if she were to keep her foot out of it!)

Anyway, just wondering what I could expect to get for it in today's market while waiting for the right buyer. I don't think I will sell it, but it isn't 100% impossible - I always keep my eye out for a great deal, and may need to use the proceeds of this to fund another fun deal

Best way to make a reasonable guess,,,, Look up what a stock vert with you miles and condition. Then figure about 25% of what you spent on the mods,,and add that to the book. Then hope you find someone that will pay that much for it!!! Sad to say There are few that get much more than a fraction of what they invested in mods. You MAY get lucky and find someone looking for a deal on an already modded car,,and you might be able to recover half!! Even in good times you usually take a big hit,,,and these aren't good times!! Good luck!! IMO,,I'd just keep and enjoy it!!!

That's pretty good advice. You might be able to get a bit more for the mods, but don't count on it too much.

For that same $20,000 you can buy a 2003 50th anniversary convertible corvette with all options and 48k miles

Link to example: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/1937012305.html

This last January I bought a 2001 loaded mint condition Convert with all service records and nearly new Michelin RF tires from the retired original owner here in Tucson for $13,000

Kelly blue book shows the following for your car and the mods normally add nothing to a cars value and may actually lower the value from these prices unless you find a buyer looking for those mods:

1998 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 2D
Vehicle Highlights
Mileage: 61,000
Engine: V8, 5.7 Liter
Transmission: Automatic
Drivetrain: RWD

BLUE BOOK® PRIVATE PARTY VALUE
Private Party Value
Condition Value
Excellent $18,350
Good $17,600
Fair $16,375

Excellent
$18,350
Looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning.
Never had any paint or body work and is free of rust.
Clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection.
Engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects.
Complete and verifiable service records.
Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

Good
$17,600
Free of any major defects.
Clean title history, the paints, body, and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems.
Little or no rust on this vehicle.
Tires match and have substantial tread wear left.
A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail.
Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

Fair
$16,375
Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition.
Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional.
Tires may need to be replaced.
There may be some repairable rust damage.

RJRSW, I guess that is really where the right buyer comes in. For a person who wants a "fast" car, the 03 vert wouldn't be nearly as appealing if it is stock. That is me putting on my buying cap anyway. Mine would be much more desirable than it for the money.
