Default New Old Guy

Hey fellas and ladies, I'm Don. I live in Seattle. I'll be 43 in November. I have decided that the next car I get will have to be a Corvette. I will be modest, and I think I've decided that the C5 era is my favorite, balancing cost and performance overall. Older vettes like the early 70's are just lovely, but I want to drive something modern I think.

I won't be shopping for a Z06 model. I'm pretty sure I want a convertible, I'd rather have a convertible than a Z06. We currently have a VW turbo convertible, and I absolutely LOVE driving with the top down. I am also pretty stubborn on something else: interior color must be the tan/beige/oak color. Gray is too depressing, and I just don't care for black interior, it's too dark.

Exterior colors: I love dark green, red, white, maybe silver. Not a big fan of black - they get dirty too easily and blemishes show too easily.

As a sometimes-Microsoft contractor currently between gigs, I probably won't be able to realize this fancy until next Spring at the earliest. But until then, I can read, research, and fantasize!

We're coming to Vancouver next month, akshually! Think we're going to get a hotel off of Robson - and I'll be able to eat at Hon's all day long.

Stay on top of these forums doing your research. These guys have all the knowledge you will need to make the right choice. It took me better part of FOUR years to find my vette but I was retired so I had time and was patient and determined to get what I wanted. I spent a lot of time reading these forums and learned the ins and outs of vette shopping. Do the same and you'll get the car you want because you'll learn so much on these forums, you can't go wrong.

<---------- See if you can find the best one in your area.

If not, then an 03 anniversary edition could be a good substitute.

Good luck on your Corvette adventure. Just a bit of advice would be to get the car "off season". You'll save quite a bit rather than trying to pick one up during the spring/summer months. Prices on these cars fluctuate depending on the time of the year.

Welcome and congrats on your assessment that the C5 is the generation for you. Great car......and although you noted you don't want black....I wouldn't discount it until you see in person. Yes they do get dirty quicker but they look great IMHO for that 15 or 20 minutes of dust/dirt free enjoyment. Let us know what you end up with.....
