Default DMH Performance...terrible experience

Well, back in March I ordered some DMH cutouts from marylandspeed. I went with DMH cause of the 4yr warranty...well, after tax season and such ended I ended up getting the cutouts installed (mid June). The cutouts didn't work. The shop tested everything and found out that the problem was the switch. The switch was getting power in, but no power out. So, I figured no big deal, I have a 4yr warranty I'm covered. I ended up sending them a few emails... no responses to any of them, even though I requested a response. Tried leaving voicemails... none of which were returned. I ended up finally get them on the phone the first week of July and was assured that I would have a switch put in the mail for me that day... well, that never happened. I've tried some emails since then...no responses. I've called several times, and left several voicemails (detailing the situation). There was never an answer, and never a call returned. So, pretty much, I've had these installed since mid June and I haven't been able to use them once. I've had some bad customer service from time to time, but this is unbelievable. I'm definitely regretting this purchase from this manufacturer.

I honestly didn't want to make a thread like this (hence why I've taken so long to do so) but I'm at the end of my rope.

That's odd. My friend bought a used DMH cutout... while a mechanic was working on the car, he broke the motor on the cutout. My friend called DMH and told them what happened and DMH sent him a brand new complete unit. Can't beat that for customer service. I hope you get your switch situation sorted out. Perhaps a $3 switch from radio shack would allow you to use your cutout until it's resolved?

Are you trying to work this back through MarylandSpeed or direct with DMH?

I work with Dave at DMH and Dave is a really is great guy

For sometime Dave has had his hands full with making cutouts, filling orders and being there with his father who was very sick. This was effecting not only the response time to emails and phone calls but shipping as well. I had some issues with delays in orders shipping for my customers as well. Those who did order these from me were very good at understanding that Dave was spending every minute he could with his father and as much as he could with his business(DMH)
I called Dave yesterday to talk with him a few minutes and learned his father has passed away and is now peacefully resting

I am sure Dave will take care of you himself if you would call DMH direct.
If I can help you at all let me know send me a PM

What I would of done thus far is buy a stinking switch and post what you did and just let others know -

This isn't bad as it could be, sorry to hear of the broken part but grab a switch at the Auto store and slap it in and enjoy the cut-outs

Man we all get burned some how some way throughout our Vette owning years, man I know I have, I complained let others know and then made the situation better.

I'd write them a letter of the details and mail it "CERTIFIED" so they have to accept it and read it - If they do nothing about it then bummer but if they do then you have an extra switch for one of us who gets a broken one

Thanks,Matt

I agree with Matt, Why not just get a switch from Radio Shack and be done with it?

Well if in the end you still can't get a response I would leave a message saying you will dispute the charges with your credit card in 10 days form the date you leave the message. Hopefully that will get their attention and if not then simply call your credit card and they will take care of it for you.

I don't personally know Matt or his personal problems but some trustworthy people have said he is a good guy so hopefully he will come through for you. But personal probelms or not he still has a duty to fulfill his promises, whether it be a warranty on a product or anything else. I'm not heartless, it seems like he has had ample time to get this particular problem taken care of.

When we installed them on my car I kept pushing on the switch and nothing happened. I traced the wiring over and over again. After about an hour, I figured out that it's a toggle switch...

No problems since and Dave was great!

I am sorry for his loss. I don't like to hear of anybody losing a family member. I don't want this to sound in bad taste at all, but since you seem to be able to get through to him, where I cannot, could you please ask him to view this thread and give me a call or shoot me an email. Thanks! Hopefully he is making it through this hard time.

I'm trying to work through this with him directly. I did by the cutouts from marylandspeed, but I have been trying to contact him since he warranties the parts.

The problem is, I'm not a very "handy" guy with anything car related. I wish I was, but unfortunately, I am not. So, if I went into an autoparts store, I would have no clue of what to specifically ask for, or what key words to use. If you could lend me some advise, I will be all ears.

You read my post correctly, it is the toggle switch. The motors on the cutouts work fine, I am in need of a switch only.

At this point, I would rather not do that. Normally I would consider it, but after hearing about his father passing and another forum vendor sticking up for him, I'm going to hold off. My main problem is just the lack of respect shown to me by not returning ANY (as in not ONE) of my emails for phone calls. I'm a very reasonable guy. If he called me and told me of his situation and explained to me that he will get me the part when he gets a chance and his mind is back in order...well, I would have NO problem with that all all. Life can be a bitch, and yes, it does get in the way.

In the end, I'm not looking to drag his name through the mud or anything like that. I've been very patient and persistant. All I want is my part so I can use the product that I paid decent money for. If he comes through for me, I will be sure to update this thread with the outcome and clear the air. Hopefully he does the right thing. I will keep you all posted.

So, any advice on the specs of the switch I need to go pick up? Would an advanced auto or a radio shack have it?

Thanks!

Take the faulty switch into AZ or Advance and ask them for a replacement. Piece-o-cake.
