Default Never gonna fix...

Curious to know what's broken on your car that you will never intend to fix and why. For me, it's my underhood light and the glove compartment light.

Things that you intend to fix but have taken years to get to don't count. I've got a few of those...early headlight bezels, one door panel plug and the rubber tips that hold the targa top when it's in the back of the car. Also, my lousy looking clear roof.

What's on your I'm never gonna fix list list and what's on your I'm gonna get to it list?

My car came without the tire pressure sensors, they cost a fortune for my 00' and I'm not having the tires pulled off the wheels to put them in. If someone gave me a free set I would however hold on to them until I needed new tires which won't be any time soon.

I'm in the same boat as you, I have a 99 but all my sensors work. A new set of sensors cost almost as much as a new set of non-run flats for our cars! BTW, a good tire store can replace our sensors without taking the whole wheel off the tire.

If you can wait until about 2014, Continental Tire has developed a new tire that will internally hold a high tech/cheap sensor that will work with any smart phone. The inner
wall of the tire will hold the sensor, not the wheel. Maybe I can hold out until then.

I forgot to explain the reason I won't fix the above...I'm a cheap MF@#$%. I locate the parts online but then the vendors want to charge the same amount or more for s/h which drives me crazy. Then I spent like 2 hours @ Carlisle looking for these crappy parts which none of the vendors want to be bothered with, so I give up! If the online vendors would just tell me it's gonna cost $10 for the bulb rather than $4 bulb + $6 s/h, I would do it.

Jerry, can you please tell me where I can get a set of non-run flats for around $200? Thanks

So the high price is just psychological for you?

Oh, I've put a ton of money into my car upgrading wheels, seats, interior and sound system and I'm not done yet but I admit I look/weigh the cost of each and every part before I buy. I guess it's the old purchasing agent in me. The shipping costs bug the
#@$% out of me on these small parts. I told you I'm a cheap MF@#$!!!!

So the high price is just psychological for you?
Yep, it's all in my head!

Jerry, can you please tell me where I can get a set of non-run flats for around $200? Thanks
97-00 (old type sensors) run $459.71 from GMPARTSHOUSE.COM
my set of BFG tires run $586.00 from TIRERACK-Stock size BFG S/S

01-04 (new type sensors) run only $195.40 set ... a lot of us wish we could use these on our 97-00 cars.

Take care, Jerry

Let me know if you ever need a set of sensors. Way cheaper than new.

Fixing those little things for me is what is enjoyable about owning a fun 2nd car. I like to be able to say it all works and enjoy working on it.

Most likely I'd fix anything that ends up breaking, no matter how small. I just like things to work properly.

I'm starting to think I will never fix my sending units in the fuel tanks.
Gauge will regester for about a half a mile then drop to empty. Before I would clear the code and run a few bottles of techron thru it and it would work. This time nothing helps I have ran 3 bottles and a bottle of seafoam in it and still the same thing check gauges light and low fuel warning plus I only run shell v-power.

Mine would be my flasher unit. Oh, it works, but it's not going back in its rightful place in the dash. When I replaced it, I rerouted it into the footwell, driver's side just under the plastic panel there where I can get to it if I need to. This way, when it fails again, it's just a quick snap out and snap in. I left the old unit in the dash just to hold the button so it looks original.

The only other thing that I'm waiting to fix is the HVAC display. Need to re-solder the board. In the meanwhile, I can live without it.

I got one bad tire pressure sensor and I don't plan on fixing it until I need new front tires. I've never understood why the tire pressure sensors just aint powered by kenetic energy kinda like those flash lights you shake.

One of the leads to my rear defroster came off. Soldering held for maybe a day. Unless I can get it fixed without replacing the heating strips or whole rear window I'm not gonna bother with it. Never need it down here anyway.

My A/C control unit has that dim display problem. I plan on tackling that one sometime soon.
