So a few nights ago I'm leaving our weakly cruise in spot and the low oil level light comes on I quick pull over but when I check it everything appears fine. The car has never had any issues for the past 3 years I have owned it. So I gingerly get it home and everything still seems good. Anyone else ever have this and is there anything else I should be checking? Also what is the typical oil pressure I should have in normal driving? The car is essentially stock from a mechanical standpoint. Thanks guys
You probably had your car parked for awhile with the nose pointed downward in an unlevel parking spot? Happened to me before, under those circumstances.
Same thing happened to me, posted on here about 2 weeks ago. Didn't think much of it, added 1 qt and got it back to normal level. I will be watching very closely though to see if there is a potential leak or if it just being burnt from aggressive driving.
There is a low oil sensor in the back passenger side of the oil pan. Several things can cause the error message you received:
1) Low oil level.
2) Parked on an incline with the back of the car higher than the front.
3) Damaged wiring or dirty or loose connections to the sensor itself.
4) Failing or failed sensor.
I have had #2 occur a few times when I back into my driveway. I have to clear the message by using the reset button even after checking the level and restarting the car. Since it does not come back on I know there is no issue to be concerned about.
You have checked the first item but if the problem is consistent you may have to check the others.
Happens to my car when its not parked on a level serfice. Sometimes I have to do the reset a couple of times before it goes away. Oil is full, so I know its not correct.
