Default Sell now, or wait until Spring?

I have a 2001 C5 with 54k miles on it, basically stock. In general, better to sell now or wait until spring when it is 1 year older but prices creep up at that time of year?

Thanks

Sell it now it will be worth less next year as prices are not going to be better next year in the current economy

Don't know where you live, but you still have a few months left in the driving season even if you live in the north. I'd probably put it up for sale now and see if you get any bites.

Better off trying now.
What do you think it's worth?

Paid $18k in early spring. Put in a Corsa Touring Exhaust, Z06 airbox with an Amsoil filter. Still have the original exhaust and airbox. KBB says around $21k. What its, worth, who knows?

We're at the tail end of the season and prices won't hold much longer. Springtime should be easier to sell and at a better price.

As others have stated, prices keep going down every year, so your better off to sell now...A lot of people think by waiting until spring that they can get better money since it's the beginning of the driving season, the problem is most sellers think this way and do exactly this option but what happens is the market gets flooded with these cars and buyers have more time to "wait it out" to find the one they want. If someone is really looking and they can't wait, now will be the time to sell. JMO

The 2011's are already out so it is now 10 model years old anyway so that will not make any difference. Your $21k figure you quote in your other post is a KBB dealer retail figure and is usually about 2-3 grand more than private party sale. They tend to get more because they offer things like financing, they take trade-in's, warranty, etc.

KBB on your car is:

BLUE BOOK® PRIVATE PARTY VALUE
Close
Private Party Value
Kelley Blue Book Private Party Value is the amount a buyer can expect to pay when buying a used car from a private party. The Private Party Value assumes the vehicle is sold "As Is" and carries no warranty (other than any remaining factory warranty). The final sale price may vary depending on the vehicle's actual condition and local market conditions. This value may also be used to derive Fair Market Value for insurance and vehicle donation purposes.

Condition Value
Excellent $19,250
Good $18,400
Fair $16,950

The mods will not ad to the car's value and may actually lower the value. Normally you are always better off putting the stock items back on the car and sell the mods separately.

It depends on how bad you want/need to sell.
Imo it's worth less than what you paid, even factoring in your mods.
Good luck.

Oh no! But that's not the question. Is it generally better to sell now, or wait until the spring when the car is another year older? As far as what its worth really depends to some degree on where you live and more importantly, the amount of the check someone is willing to hand you.

The 2011's are out already so the car is already 10 model years old now and will be 10 model years old next spring so the another year older next spring shouldn't be the deciding factor.

A convert in the spring may get a bump but being this is a coupe waiting till spring shouldn't be of any help.

I would have to agree with steve8 above in that it it's most likely worth less than the $18k you paid last spring when you bought it.

You want to sell the car put a price on it and see what happens.

No for sale sign no chance of selling.

It makes no difference when you sell, there are buyers all the time for that type of car.

Either way if you price it too high you will be driving it for years to come. My guess is that will take a year or so to sell as there is a huge inventory to choose from unless it is priced to sell.

$17,000 to $18,000 with the mods is what you are looking at.

As a comparison I would be happy with $21,000 for my vert with 38,000 miles and a new Corsa.

No reason not to at least try. Worst case you will still be selling the car in the spring when buyers get their taxes back to buy toys
It will come down to how much your asking for the inventory in your market.

Waiting till next Spring is just watching the value go down even more. The absolute key is dozens of photos and a realistic price. If the car has clear title that's a plus as well.

Forget what you see on Bluebook prices. They mean absolutely nothing when it comes to the Vette. The right buyer will pay your price. Overpricing will bring no buyers. Blanket carpet bomb all the online ad's as well as Craigslist. I've sold more cars there in the last 5 years than any other source.

Good Luck------->

Put it on the market and see what happens, its only going to lose value as the months go buy.

Your profile isn't complete.....where do you live? If in a all year round warm climate then go ahead and sell it. If colder climate I would suggest you only have a very short period of time to sell and would wait until spring. Very few buy in the winter when the snow is falling.

Nice cars will sell anytime.Price it to your local market and wait for that ONE buyer.

Panic selling always drives prices down.

IMO...
