I truly question those stats. If 88% of buyers were born before 1946, that would make the average age of owners about 70 or more. What absolute and that sure as he!! is not mid life.
Well I was born in late 1946,,got my first one in my early 50s,,and my FRC at around age 61!! Hope it is a mid life thing,,means I'll be in my 120's when I buy the farm!! No plans on growing up any time soon either. I started learning how to hang the tail out on the gravel roads when I was twelve!! My best reaction time so far is .001 and can get .01X Rt's on a fairly regular basis!! The years a may be going by,,but I ain't gonna get old!! One advantage of getting a few years on me,,,,I don't give a CRAP what people think!!! I drive mine all the time and enjoy every minute of it!! I take it everywhere any time!! 10-11K a year!!
I find that hard to believe. Everyone I know or most that own corvettes are in their 30's and 40's. I bought my first vette when I was 18 yrs old. I have always had a vette except for 3 yrs when i first bought my house, and now I'm in my late 40's. With the Average price getting closer to 100,000 dollars for some of these vettes, I bet more established guys (older) will make that statistic true.
I am 50 now and I am shopping for my first Corvette. I have wanted one for as long as I can remember. Both kids are out of college now and it is my time now. First person who says I'm having a mid-life crisis gets a punch in the throat.
Bought my Z06 at age 27 so definately not a mid life crisis. Now my father in law on the other hand just bought his first (2008 Z06) and he is 54. LOL!

Well get ready to be in jail because you will hear it a lot ! As well as the small ***** thing too...Hey.....they all don't have a car like ours so....they have to try to make themselves feel better by saying this crap !
I think what the article was trying to say was that the average age of a person buying a new Vette was 57. A lot of us own used Vettes but buying that new one at $50k is another story.

Who cares what Auto Pacific says - I bought my first one at age 31 and am on my 9th one now. Certainly didn't need a mid-life crisis to want to own America's sports car.
I have wanted a corvette since I was a little kid. My dads friend has a c3 ls6 454 and that is where it all began. When I turned 18 I tried to get a vette, and WOW was insurance insane, they said wait until you are 21 and it will go down, so I settled for a 6 cylinder camaro. When I turned 21 tried again and WOW was insurance high, so I settled for a ss camaro, there data base thought it was a 6 banger. They said get married then it will go down, I got married and it was reasonable enough then to buy a c4 corvette. Man did that backfire. Had to sell the car the house the boat and everything else for the divorce. Now that I am 33, my insurance is cheap, I'm single, and I can afford to do alot of mods to my car. The insurance lady was the first to ask if I was having a midlife crisis, hell no, I'm not having a crisis, I just figured this whole thing out and everything is cool.
I'm with the group that says MLC is a cr*p term to use. After raising a family while bouncing aroung the globe serving in the AF, our youngest scored pretty much a full ride to college. I call it her scholarship gift to her pops, and it makes her smile. Then I let her drive us to DQ for Blizzards after Sunday dinner. She scores a few cool points and thinks her old man is "da bomb". Couldn't be happier!
Hate to say it, but the stereotype of the typical corvette is true. But honestly, who cares what others think about what you drive anyways? Make your self happy I say.

They can label anything they wish. Worked all my life, raised 2 kids and put them through college and spent most, if not all of my free time at the events. Either being a sporting event or competitive cheerleading. After all that I have done for my kids, we decided it was time to do something for ourselves. Call it whatever you want, I say I EARNED THE RIGHT TO OWN WHATEVER I WANT.
According to Auto Pacific data, the Chevy Corvette "seems to be more often a reward car. Its buyers are older than the industry average, with 88% born before 1946. Only 11% of Corvette owners are in Gen Y or Gen X." Bell adds: "Sadly, the usual stereotype of the Corvette buyer as a 57-year old male deep in a mid-life crisis is proven."
I bought my first Corvette when I was 28. I'm 62 now and have owned seven Corvettes over the years. Never did have a mid-Life Crisis. I hate being stereotyped just because I own a Corvette. But, I guess that goes with the territory.
