Default 2000 c5

I am in the process of buying my 1st vette and am curently looking at a 2000 convertable. Will someone give me pointers as to the problems that this model might have had, if any, and things to look out for? It has the 350 LSI engine 345 hp I think i have the model engine correct or should it be thr LT1 engine model? Auto trans. with 69000 miles on it never wrecked and always serviced by Chevrolet dealers. Tires and brakes are new. Thanks [email]bboykin@wgyates.com

You were right the first time. LS1 motor. Great car, great motor. Other then what the shape of the car is in how well did the owner take care of it. How does it ride. It like buying any used car. If its in good shape not beat on and the price is right go for it. If you don't know alot about cars take it to a shop and for $100 have them check it out for your. There is no real magic about buying a corvette. I have a 00 coupe w/78K on her. One of the best cars I ever owned. G/L post a pic when she's yours.

I have an 00 and it is great. best corvette I've ever owned. find a vette shop near you to go over it. it will be worth the little extra money up front. that said, Jims79 is right, it is a used car. make sure everything looks and feels right and more importantly it drives right. make sure you pull the codes. bring them back here for help. if it doesn't check out, walk away. there are A LOT of used vettes for sale. if you are handy at all, the little issues that arise with your C5 will be easily repairable by you with the help of the good folks here at corvette forum.
Good luck

00 A4 cpe purchased w/31 k on the odo, now @ 53 k. Great car, had to replace the multi function switch and place a hyperflash bypass . Other than that, just normal maint.

Do a carfax, have a knowledgeable mech. put it up on a lift, and enjoy.

read through the stickies in the tech section. it might scare you a bit but don't let it. most of us have had a few of the issues reported but with all the help you can get here, the fix is usually cheaper than expected. these are really great cars and bang for the buck, you won't find perfomace like it!! good luck with the purchase

Another Y2K here......love it and thus far no major problems.....just that pesky Mod Bug that caught me and I can't seem to get rid of. Take a read of the following and it will provide more info. This is a Sticky at the top of the page.

Go for it if all checks out.

2001, here. Also a convt. Bought it a year ago and love everything about it. This is the most fun car I've had to date, and I just sold my 82 coupe.

You must remember above all else, the car you are looking to buy is 10 years old and there will be little things that'll go wrong. That's why we're all right here. Best of Luck with your purchase and post pictures when you bring it home.

Default 2000 vette

One of the best c5 model years. it does have 26 lbs injectorsa and it does not have the ls6 intake but other than that, it has the updated engine block and does not have the leaking gas tank issues the 2004 have. It does have a higher profile camshaft compared to the other ones after the 2000 model to make up for the lack of a good intake flow. Put the ls6 intake on your 2000 and you will feel the difference. I bought mine in 2007 with 32k miles. Now have 37k miles and have done many bolt on upgrades. Car runs and looks great. I have had 5 corvettes and this is the best of them all. No issues what so ever, even with many mods. Enjoy and congratulations. edramos.

Still the Original owner 2000 vert, MN6, fully loaded, has 37K on it now. Only problems I had was the steering wheel column lock issue (fixed by dealer), leaking battery that melts the AC vaccuum lines, the AC display go dim (self fixed), headlight motor fail, and the vert top window peel off, also self fixed with the help of this forum. Gonna keep it forever, what a great car. I've had so much fun with it. I added Corsa Pace Catback, Magnaflow Xpipe, Z06 sway bars, and red stripes (from a forum vendor).

If you still need a guide on what to look for, I have a few Word files that might help you out, including a Corvette Buyer's Checklist. If you would like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.
