One thing you want to do right away is check to see if you have a column lock bypass (CLB) installed yet. Tons of info on that if you do a search. That was the first mod I did. Then came the MGW short throw shifter. Then new tires and wheels, GHL exhaust.....you can have a lot of fun, spend, stimulate the economy and yourself at the same time!
And beside's Porsches sound like crap, Vette's sound AWESOME!
I have had both the porsche was a other than the cool interior the porsche does not compare. I eventually put a Ls1 in the porsche but it still was not as fun as the z06 plus i couldn't keep transmissions in the car

I drive my Vette all winter long up here in MA, save for the snow days.

My insurance lady:
"So, you probably won't be driving it from Nov through Mar so we can save you some there"
Me: "Uhhhh, Noooooo, Don't click on that! I plan on driving the car anytime I can!

Rained tonight in Providence while I had the car out, on the way home
I decided to take a spin on our nice interstate 295 up here (running some seafoam through her).
The car has newer tires on it, some Yoyo or Yomo things or some crap,
but the car was awesome in the rain.
I love third gear, well, fourth gear too...
The funny thing is I am still surprised when glancing at the mph and I
realize "I'm at 100 already??? Is this gage working right???"
I know I will be meeting a state trooper very shortly and will have absolutely nothing to say in my own defense.
That stupid OMG grin on my face will probably **** him off too... Damn...

Enjoy the new ride...
Yeah I skimmed through the clb thread a couple of weeks ago, it is a
little confusing, they do a recall, you let them fix it, but it is still not
right, and the recall fix screws up the ability to do the oem fix but if
you get stuck and jerk off the wheel a certain way you can drive the
car... sometimes...
It was a few weeks ago, I will have to read it more carefully - Thanks Hammer
Good luck with your new purchase, you won't regret it. I'm a former 911 owner so I personally know the differences. It was a long time ago I had one, a black 911 with cork (color) factory Recaros, whale tail, black forged alloys, lowered. It was a really fine car, at the time. I sold it to build a street rod, which I still have. Now that I'm driving my second C5, a Z06, I've never had any desire to own a Porsche again. They're nice cars, especially GT2's and 3's, but the Vette has that nice hot rod V8 rumble. It's absolutely the best bang for the buck you'll ever find.
I can assure you that you will not be able to drive in the winter in rhode island in your corvette.
good luck with your frc.
Yes, I think what you mean to say is that I will not get anywhere trying
to drive it in the snow. I understand. I do have another car for that - Thanks IMA
It is obvious here that the C5 has won over yet another new owner. As others have commented, that feeling never fades. Continued enjoymnent lies ahead, and the valuable information found here can only enhance the new experiences to come. Welcome!
I drive mine in the rain, snow or shine (granted it's a lot more fun when it's shine). These cars are meant to be driven and as long as you respect the power, you'll be fine in the winter.
Congrats on your buy and welcome to the club :]
I've been daily driving Corvettes since the C5 was introduced....rain or shine.
I guess I'll the one to stand out and say that "the feeling" went away after about 2 weeks. Don't know why, it just did. Leaning towards getting something else. Don't know what yet.
I just want something with AWD for the winter. That, and I've been spoiled with the interiors in my other cars.

You will not be able to drive your C5 in the winter in Prov RI . The city does not know how to clean snow from the roads. Ruts and piles of snow on the back streets will be around for days after a storm. Usually I'm in 4 wheeel drive in the city. Enjoy the C5 and welcome
I almost swapped my Vette for a 911 last year but the upkeep and the prices for parts and maintenance scared me away. Don't get me wrong, I love the looks of the 911 and loved driving it but I just can't afford to own one. If you think the "Corvette tax" is bad wait until you see the "Porsche tax"
