i am trying to order a replacement key online for my 2001 corvette and they need to know the ohms on the chip. Since i do not have a tester, would any of you guys know if the ohms are the same for all 2001's and if so what are they? If each vehicle is different do you know where i can go to get the ohms on my key measured?
There are 15 different resistor values for the key pellet. Anyone with a DMM could measure your key. For my C4, I just went to a local key shop and they hooked me up with a new key on the spot.
Go to Harbor Freight and buy a multi-meter for under $4.00 (even less if you catch a sale). Measure your ohms, go to eBay and order key based on ohm reading. Have key cut at any key shop. Then put the MM in your toolbox. Did this myself about a year ago.
Ditto amd the blank kye of fleebay is a lot cheaper than dealer or locksmith

Got my blanks on fleebay after measureing with a DVOM. Auction site has venders which equate resistance to a number. Then get it cut at a real locksmith for less than $2. Shop around. Some robbers here wanted $10 to $20 to CUT the key. BS. Get 2 and have a spare.
