Turn the key to the ON position, but don't start the engine. Clear any present messages by pressing the RESET button. Hold the OPTIONS button down, and press the FUEL button 4 times. This will get you into the CODES section of the DIC. The computer will automatically display all the codes your car has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. Any code that ends in H is a history code (something that has occured in the past) but is fine now. Once the computer has finished going through all of it's codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration mode. It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# CODES".
To optionally reset the codes once in manual mode, press and hold RESET until it displays "NO CODES". Press OPTIONS to go to the next module. Repeat the steps in this paragraph until you have reset the codes in all the computer modules. NOTE !! Only reset the codes IF you want to - it is NOT necessary to do this. http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm
Thanks Guys, Check engine light cleared. After rechecking codes they all had an H or HC after them, which Mr.Bill said where history. Appreciate all of you, can't stand driving with that light on.

If you had some with HC that means there is still an issue, C means current.
My Check Engine came on solid the other day. Freaked me out. Never seen it before.
Looked in the Owner's Manual and it said to check the gas cap. Sure enough, the gas station attendant hadn't gotten it on correctly. (In Oregon, we can't pump our own gas. Too stupid, I guess)
I screwed it down, and the CE light went out within 100 yards.

My CE light came on as well so I just checked the codes The ony current codes are P0440 EVAP System and P1153 HO2S Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1.
Bad gas cap and or O sensor?
To the OP:
U1064 can indicate a ground problem too! Ask Bill how I know!

Whew!
Im also in Oregon.. The local Chevron station knows better than to even think of touching my Vette (even my 80). I just get out before handing them the card and stand there with a small white towel. They look at me, then the car, then they just hand me the spout, rather than risk even one drop on my paint! Works at just about every station, but if they don't get the hint, I let them know they need to stand there and hold the spout and NOT let it rest on my car. .

Just had the same thing. Tightened the cap, light was out before I was around the block.
