What does the DIC say?

I'd go once per year regardless of mileage personally. I wouldn't let any oil go over 8-10K either but I'm a little weird about keeping fresh fluids in my cars

Paging Subdriver!

I run Amsoil in my car currently and will change for more once the DIC reads 0%. I'm sure it can go longer but, I cannot adjust myself to run ANY oil that long. My car is a DD so I am just that particular.

I'm with you brother ! I run Mobil-1 but due to my health, often I don't put much over 2000 miles on the car in a whole year, and the DIC says it's at 86%. But the owner's manual says change it at 7000 miles or once a year. Since it only costs me $50.00 to have the oil changed I do it once a year. But I'm a little strange about clean oils.

Put another one in the "strange" column. DIC is your friend.

I run Amsoil in my Vette and in my TrailBlazer SS. I only put about 700-800 miles a year on my car and usually change the oil before I store it for the winter. That being said, I think I'm going to leave the old oil in it this year and change it next year before I store it. I don't think it's going to hurt anything.

Where do you get a Mobile 1 oil change for $50?

I run Amsoil filters on both. I can't imagine my oil getting that dirty in 700-800 miles.

Have you personally sent your oil off for analysis?

You can't use your DIC to tell when to change the oil. The program is designed with the specs for Mobil one 5w-30. Nothing wrong with Amsoil though. Change your oil once a year.

Amsoil and their filters aren't really that expensive. For all the money I've spent on my motor, it's well worth it to me. I've never taken any shortcuts with my mods and I feel the same way about the oil.

Your DIC uses an average to calculate the percentage, and it actually works quite well. The DIC will indicate to change the oil prior to what's recommended by oil companies "recommended" mileage so there really isn't anything to worry about...besides most won't wait for it to go to zero, they change it at approx 20%.
