Default Amsoil qestion.

I run the best amsoil makes in the vette but I was wondering should I change the oil soon I have around 5000 miles but amsoil claims its good for 30k or a year what yal think.

What does the DIC say?

I'd go once per year regardless of mileage personally. I wouldn't let any oil go over 8-10K either but I'm a little weird about keeping fresh fluids in my cars

Paging Subdriver!

I run Amsoil in my car currently and will change for more once the DIC reads 0%. I'm sure it can go longer but, I cannot adjust myself to run ANY oil that long. My car is a DD so I am just that particular.

I'm with you brother ! I run Mobil-1 but due to my health, often I don't put much over 2000 miles on the car in a whole year, and the DIC says it's at 86%. But the owner's manual says change it at 7000 miles or once a year. Since it only costs me $50.00 to have the oil changed I do it once a year. But I'm a little strange about clean oils.

Put another one in the "strange" column. DIC is your friend.

I run Amsoil in my Vette and in my TrailBlazer SS. I only put about 700-800 miles a year on my car and usually change the oil before I store it for the winter. That being said, I think I'm going to leave the old oil in it this year and change it next year before I store it. I don't think it's going to hurt anything.

As long your running Amsiol filter your good. I spank mine hard on strip few times and still change at 20,000 miles. Oil analyis says safe to 25,000. Its hands down best oil on market

I run Amsoil filters on both. I can't imagine my oil getting that dirty in 700-800 miles.

You can't use your DIC to tell when to change the oil. The program is designed with the specs for Mobil one 5w-30. Nothing wrong with Amsoil though. Change your oil once a year.

Sorry... I can't tell you about Amsoil...I only use the poor man's a/c delco filter and crappy Mobil 1 synthetic oil...

Amsoil and their filters aren't really that expensive. For all the money I've spent on my motor, it's well worth it to me. I've never taken any shortcuts with my mods and I feel the same way about the oil.

are you guys nuts? waiting that long to change your oil? i try and change my oil every 3000 miles you will save the engine by doing that it will last alot longer fresh oil is your best friend don't go by you dic are you nuts? mine is in the low 80s high 70s when i change mine never would i go till it hits zero. you have a vette change the oil don't be so cheap!

Your DIC uses an average to calculate the percentage, and it actually works quite well. The DIC will indicate to change the oil prior to what's recommended by oil companies "recommended" mileage so there really isn't anything to worry about...besides most won't wait for it to go to zero, they change it at approx 20%.
