Depends on the type of tint you get. The high quality tint is non-metallic and won't interfere with radio reception. Just make sure the shop can do the back window in one sheet, without bubbling around the dot-matrix part of the window.
I got mine done for $150 with lifetime warranty in Northern VA on my Vette and my Benz. They had different quality levels, and the best they had was the one I got.
Makes a nice difference when the black car sits in the sun!

LOL, probably not. It would look retarded also. What do you think has more "resistance" to reception, the thick piece of glass or a thin little sheet of plastic or whatever tint is made out of?

For one, people can't see inside your car as well or in the back at all if you have personal items in there. Maybe your town has no issues with car theft but you may go on vacation or a road trip, movie theater..whatever.
It also keeps the car cooler inside, protects the interior and helps reduce glare

Is tint legal in NY? I found out the hard way back when I lived in the Chicago area that my local LEOs did not like illegal (no tint of any kind on the front side windows) tint.

IL just passed a tint law so now it's legal...except in Chicago, go figure.
