Default 2003 Indy pace car

I'm looking at buying a yellow 2003 vert auto Indy pace car with 40K miles. The car looks to be in very good shape with no issues I can see. The car has all the Indy stuff on it with the Indy paperwork in it.

The car is number 48 out of 50 and he is asking $35K. I was hoping someone on this site would be able to tell me what the car is worth before I make an offer. Thanks for the help.

This is a link to the car.

That appears to be one of the parade cars, not a pace car. Don't know about the value, but it's a nice looking 'Vette.

The pace car for the 2002 Indy 500 was a 2003-model 50th Anniversary Edition Corvette coupe in "Anniversary Red" with gold wheels.

The pace car for the 2003 Indy 500 was a 2003 Chevy SSR.

Frankly - except for the provenance of the car (used in the Indy Parade) and the stickers, its really nothing remarkable or special. Since Memorial Day 2003 - someone has driven that car an average of about 5700 miles per year. It's relatively low mileage, but still nothing outstanding to justify the $35K asking price.

NADA Black Book says the car is worth about $26K. I think the $26K is a fair evaluation of the car, and that's what I would offer.

I was going to say that you'd be paying about a $10,000 premium for the serial number and decals. For that kind of money, you could slide into a C6 or very nice C5 with plenty of mod money left over.

Are the decals worth 13k to you?

the tape package isn't worth 10k nor is the fact that it was one of 50 that was used in the parade (at least to me anyway). if it's really nice, then it is pretty much just that in my opinion, a really nice 2003 MY low milage vette convertible with a tape package.
