LED rear tail lite problem...
The right most tail lite appears to work perfectly when viewed up close, but as you move back, say 30 feet, it is definately dimmer than the other 3 lites. In short, at a distance it is dim and up close it appears the same as the other lites.
Anybody have an idea what the problem might be ?
I hope I can find a replacement lite if I need one.....hate to buy 4.

I bought them from Brian@FI Performance out of Stamford CT. in 2008 ; he use to advertize here. I cannot reach him. What I was told is they are from China and made by a company that produces LED systems for trucks. They appear to be good quality and have 32 bulbs per lite. I'll keep looking for specifics. I thought an LED light person might be able to shed some light on the electrical problem.
Good thought on the upside down....I will flip it and see.

JW....That is good to know.
I'd like the lite not to look different from the other 3. Do you have a picture of the lite you are talking about looking at it directly from the rear ?

I replaced my clear side markers ( probably should not have spent the money as the ones I took out look pretty good). Checked the LED rear tail lite I had the dimming problem on and yes it was installed upside-down; the connection was also corroded and I cleaned up the connection. Tail light now works good. Hopefully that was the problem, you know how electrics are.
I had a similar question regarding fixing them. Suppose one or two of the individual lights in one unit are dim or out. Is there a diy for this? Thanks

If you know how to solder very well, know how to position the square LEDs, and can purchase a few extra of the same LED the supplier uses....then yes you can DIY. Otherwise send it in to JW and one of his fantastic techs will be more than happy to help.

If one of the LEDs go out, it's usually a failed LED. If there's 2 or more in an area, it's usually a failed resistor. Both of which can be replaced easily.

I have never come across a failed resistor to cause two LEDs out in a row. Usually the first failed LED will drive up the resistance reducing voltage on the pos of the next LED in sequence. But I have also seen 2 in a row go bad, sometimes the board itself with a bad run.
Or a bad connection on the PCB... ran into that a few times.
Anywho I think they were talking about installing the connector in backwards not the physical light assembly, that would be pretty obvious I'd think AND it is marked "TOP"
