I am looking at getting a C5
Right now I have it narrowed down to 2 cars...both convertibles, both
6-spd
The 99 has 50k miles and adjustable suspension, the 2000 has 73K miles and no adjustable suspension. Both look to be in excellent shape.
Was there any big changes made from 99 to 00, and how important is the adjustable suspension?
Thanks

Nothing major.
The replacement key fobs are expensive on a 2000.
The replacement shocks are expensive on an adjustable suspension car.
Same drivetrain and a few minor changes.

in addition to what was previously mentioned:
'99 has wagon wheels and a key tumbler on the passenger door.
'00 has spoke wheels and no key tumbler on passenger door.

99 has both doors with key entry. 2000 has only driver side key entry..Originally Posted by hzz

According to the Corvette Black Book, besides the above mentioned changes the 2000 had a refined F45 system, tension in the spring that located the shifter between the first-second and fifth-sixth gear gate was increased for better sense of gear location and selection (also interim 99s), a couple of wheatherstripping seals were changed, angle of seat belt latch plates changed for easier buckling, improved Dual Climate Control and improved seat materials and construction (also on some later 99s).

ExploreThe F45 suspension is probably the least desirable suspension option. Expensive to replace, and if you pull a hole shot, it will wheel hop like crazy. However; I would not let that deter me from buying the car. C6 Z06 shocks, and C5 Z06 sway bars would be a big improvement for either car and are reasonably priced. (assuming the other car has the base suspension). If you wanted to go a step further, you could look for a used set of C5 Z06 springs. Of course there are more expensive options, but this would be a good next level mod.
The 2000 may have pupcats on the exhaust depending where the car originally came from.
You did not mention what the two cars are selling for. Add the price of new wheels to the '99 if you plan to replace them, and then pick the one you like best. 25K less miles vs a year newer, is probably about a toss up, if they are close in price.
Edit: If you did replace the F45 you would also need to have the F45 option programmed out, or install shock sims (10 ohm 25 watt resistors, if I remember correctly)

someone just posted all of the differences the other day...there were 15-20 changes
edit: I'm sorry I think I was mistaken, the differences I was referring to are between a 00 and an 01

Seriously considering a drive to the coast tomorrow! It's going to be in the 80's !
Found this:
1999
26# injectors substituted for 28#• (Same for 2000. 2001 went back to 28#)
• Fuel pump revised to reduce noise
FRC "Fixed Roof Coupe" aka the hardtop,• becomes available. All FRC's are MN6 (6-speed) cars with the Z51 suspension package, and are about 60lbs lighter than coupes.
HUD introduced•
• Only one line in driver's side fuel rail cover (no fuel return line?)
• Power telescoping wheel becomes an option
Steering hardware changed to• combat wandering
Door sill trim plates added•
2000
Millennium• Yellow available
"Thin Spoke" versus "wagon wheel" design wheels become• standard.
Pup cats added to all models for LEV emissions requirements (5hp• loss relative to 97-99) CA and New England area only, but had an improved cam
Steel swaybar endlinks instead of plastic on Z51• equipped cars The rears are plastic
Z51 swaybar diameters grow (25.4/21.7 to 28.6/21.7 to• 28.6/23.6 (note: new rear same as Z06)
No keyhole on passenger side• doorhandle
Passenger airbag 'off' switch added to console (light by TC/AH• button) Late model year

Well it would have been a very short uninformative thread, if everyone just said No, and moved on wouldn't it. I guess noting the cost of the key fob must qualify as a major difference since you chose to mention that. Originally Posted by Phanni

OP good luck with your purchase, whatever it is. Post some pix when you get it.
