Default MP3 question

Is it possible that an adapter could be made that would plug in between the head unit and the 12 disc player that would allow for listening of the disc player UNTIL you plug in an MP3 jack at which time the insertion of the plug would break the CD player cicuit and allow the signal from the MP3 to pass through? This would be the best of all possibilities for listening. There has to be a way !

You know to be honest, With an ipod you won't even need the cd changer, When I installed my itouch with 3500 plus songs I didn't have a need for the bulky cd's.

The 12 disc on my 98 has never been used.. The factory plastic is still on it as well as the magazine.
I like the ipod idea.. My Lincoln had a 10 disc changer in the trunk and I would never bother changing the discs because it was just a PITA..

Default Ipod now

I just installed the wiring for an Ipod yesterday (just purchased a '97 coupe with the trunk mounted changer last month, and anything more than 1 CD would jam!), and it works great. Just trying to figure out the best spot for it and how to place it without leaving any permanent marks.

Just get the ipod2car from DD mods! 30 minutes later you are listening to it. Hell, if you have trunk mount, more like 10 minutes!

Default IPod - Ashtray mount

Per Munch, just routed the cable up through the ashtray. Works great. Took off the spring mounted ashtray cover and cut a slot in the side of the ashtray for the cable to pass through. Now I can just close the main cover and the IPod is concealed. When open it stays put. If I can find a cap for the power port and get rid of the cigarette lighter, the fit will even be better.

I am looking for plug and play. From what I undertsand there is a connection under the passenger seat. I want to unplug that connection and plug a harness in between that would run to the console for me to plug my "non-iphone" player in to. I appreciate the feedback but my goal is to not cut, sand, grind, remove, adjust, modify, tweak, bend anything to be able to use everything I have plus an MP3. I may just have to try to make something myself if I can get a hold of each mating connector.

I realize I may never use the CD player again, but the person that gets this car after me, may want to. It's not a trailer queen or show car, but I want it completely intact and quickly reversable.

I think I can use the wiring diagram as a reference. Thanks !!

Don't know about any connection under the passenger seat, But there is a plug under the passenger foot well by the fuse box that the rear changer harness hooks to. Don't know of any kit that will plug into that spot that will allow you to use the changer and an mp3 player.

Odds are they are Delphi-Packard connectors so I should be able to sample what I need through my employer. Thanks to your wiring diagram, I wought to be able to come up with something. I have a friend that has done breadboard/job box circuits that should work. I need to open the signal to from the CD and complete the circuit with the MP3 output.
