Has anyone ever had a paint supplier mix a hi temp paint to match your cars body color? If so what supplier did you use? I would like my calipers to match my Mag-redII paint.
I have mag red also. I bought the caliper paint kit at at auto zone or one of those places. But I also bought a can of black caliper paint and mixed a little black in the bright red to match the mag red, add just a few drops at a time and test the color before you paint one and if the color is still a little bright red. You can add a few more drops. But dont put too much black to start, just a few drops at a time , works well, keep the extra for touch ups, due to rock chips and so on...Good luck Leah
I used G2 caliper paint kit. It is an epoxy based paint that is mixed with a hardener. Worked good. I've taken several long trips and done a few cruises and no color faid no chips still looks good to me, maybe 8k miles. They have several colors to choose from, even pink. You have to work fast, so if you do all four calipers you got to get the car up and all four wheels off. get an extra acid brush or two. they give you one. I think the kit cost $20.
There is plenty paint to do more than 4 calipers. They want 24 hours drying time before you drive. So this gives you lots of time to clean wheel wells and polish your rims. I painted over the corvette letters and then sanded to bring out the letters. So don't make a mistake there, as your paint has hardened by that time.
I like they way things turned out, but it was a lot of work for me to get all fours up on jacks by myself. Then the down time waiting for paint to dry drove me a little nuts, so I started the cleaning of everything I could reach with the wheels off, polished wheel wells. Then polish and wax the rims. I guess it made me feel better. wheel nut torque 100 lbs. @ 60 80 100 in steps - star pattern
I have a 99 Mag Red Coupe, almost the same color as yours. I spray painted my calipers Mag Red, they came out great. Here's what I did...
1a. Clean calipers with wire brush and sprayed with brake cleaner, let dry.
1b. Put some chapstick on the front caliper Corvette letters
2. Used (3) coats of spray can metal primer (light grey color Rustoleum)
3. Used (3) coats of color base coat spray can (your color from:automotivetouchup.com)
4. Scrap off the Corvette letters on front calipers with a straight razor...the chapstick
helps.
5. Used (3) coats of Clearcoat spray paint (from: automotivetouchup.com)
Make sure you do one wheel at a time and don't be in a hurry between coats. This paint
is not heat-rated but you don't need it. Strongly recommend using the primer, it makes a
big difference. Also, make sure to cover the car when you spray paint.
Also recommend you use a black engine spray paint (Ford semi gloss is nice) to do your
rotors (hubs & vanes), tape off most of the rotor surface but don't be neat around the
edges as any overspray will come off neatly as you brake during your first drive. You should do this first before painting the calipers.
P.S. My car is not a dd, I did the above about 2 years ago and they still look like new, no
chips, no flaking. For street and cruising, no problem.
On the other hand, my dd, which is parked outside, I used Duplicolor Red caliper paint
without a primer, or clearcoat, as instructed. I'm constantly touching this up, mostly
on the front calipers.

I know its a personnal prefernce but I have an '03 Torch Red Vert, and thinking I may want to match the paint to the car. Anyone do that (with TR)? Or maybe do a more mag red?? Any thoughts. Most I see around here are either not painted, painted gray or some blue to match. Guess I'll keep looking. BTW, what's the outside temp need to be for the paint to work, assume around 50 degrees F?
Just find an automotive paint store near you, they can mix any color for you in a rattle can or for brushing. Tell tehm what you want, they can do it. Our store here does it for less than 10 bucks a can.
I used Rustoleum Regal Red. It's not an exact match to Mag Red II but close enough.
Rustoleum is the way to go if you want to do it easily and inexpensively. No need for hi temp paints... Plenty of color choices with Rustoleim. I used Sunrise Red on my old C5 and it looked great for years.
NOW if you don't mind spending the extra $$$, I like Vetteman Jack's idea.. below

I also have a mag red II vette. I had Mike the Powdercoater do a set of calipers for me and they turned out beautifully. He has a special silver color that looks similar to polished aluminum. I know you are trying to color match your calipers, but I have to tell you this special silver looks great with the vette. Whatever you do, I highly recommend that you paint the brackets too. It makes a big difference.

Give them the GM paint code.
that stuff won't hold up to the heat/elements that a caliper goes through though
I am lucky because my Vette 's colour is black and looks very pretty. If you want to paint then cso colour is best and looks better in your car. But this colour is not easy to find in market, it is too much costly.
