i just tried setting up a new "#1" key fob. after activating it, my "#2" stopped working. I followed the directions in the owners manual, but I cant figure out why this is happening.
Correct, You need to do 1 and then 2 at the same time.
I was going to say, now is an excellent time to change out the batties as well. You can get 1,2, and or 3 at walmart, Cost's 5$97 and their # CR2032 I did all three of mine last week. Use a small flat screwdrive and open the FOB's and they slide out.

I picked up 2 batteries at the local drug store for $4 each

Dumb question but how do you activate the key fob? I am having the same issue as you. How can you do 1 and 2 together? Do you mean have both fob's in the cockpit together?

Programming a single new key FOB will delete any other FOB's that have been programmed for the car. If you want more than 1 FOB programmed to the car (3 is the max) you must program ALL of them at one sitting of the programming steps.
Steps for programming the FOB's are in your owners manual. No info about your car in either your post or profile or I could tell you the page number in the manual. Year, manual or auto trans, vert, coupe or Z06 and any mods are a minimum info you should supply when asking for help on the Forum. Just because all C5's look alike does NOT mean that they are exactly alike across the model years the car was produced.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I have a C7, not sure how it wound up on the C5 board. Also, 2014, z51, convertible, premier edition, auto with no mods. Limerock green with tan top, beautiful car. I am familiar with the manual on how to do this. So, I do all the keys at once. Both fob's in the cockpit at the same time? I thought by having both in the car at the same time, one would override the other?
I'll fill out my profile now, thanks so much.
Merry Xmas,

Easy how it wound up in the C5 board. You posted in a thread that is on the C5 board. Forum has no way to know what you own or where you may have wanted to post.
