A couple weeks ago I got the iPod interface from a vender here. Its the type that runs from the c.d. changer. After getting everything set up it worked fine.
Fast forward to Friday (after being in the body shop for 11 days (front bumper, nothing mechanical )) and the thing won't work anymore. I toyed with every button on the head unit and can't get it to switch to c.d.
I also tried hooking the c.d. changer back and whenever I would press the c.d. button on the head unit the changer would sound like it's finding a different disc or scrolling through them, but nothing would happen.
Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to correct this?
I went Thur this yesterday, after installing my new unit also. I first couldn't get it to work turns out my bumper cover on my Iphone 4 was a little to thick and the 90 degree bend in the male plug that comes with the kit wasn't going all the way in. Off to radio shack to buy an extension along with a straight plug tested the unit and it worked perfectly. So fast forward to the final install, tested the unit again after the installation and it didn't work WTF .
Checked the wiring and it turned out I hit one of the dip switches while installing it. Make sure switch 3 & 8 is ON position and the rest are off. That was my fix. Hope yours is also a simple one. Good Luck
Just to clarify, I used the kit that plugs into the ear piece that is why my bumper cover was causing interference.

It's not the ipod. I used it in my other vehicle the other day.
I just hooked the c.d. changer back up and put a disc in the head unit. I skipped to the last song on the c.d. and let it play out to see if the c.d. changer would load a disc after the one in the head unit finished. It didn't, the c.d. just restarted.
While the c.d. was in I could switch between AM, FM, and CD AUX fine. When I took it out I again couldn't select the CD AUX button. Also, whenever I would press the FWD button on the head unit with the c.d. in I could hear the discs in the changer being shuffled around.
...more lost.
I'm gonna go ahead and reset the ipod and see if that changes anything.
Does the radio still work as a radio? If not the battery went down whenthe car was in the shop, and the radio needs to have the security code entered, if that's not the issue, did you check the fuses?

The radio does infact work.
Interesting you mention the battery as it died Saturday. When I picked the car up I sat in it for a few minutes trying to figure out wtf was going on, but the time and presets were still set on the radio (unless the battery died and they reset them).
And an update on what's going on. This morning I actually have the little c.d. icon on the screen and I can switch to CD AUX but when I do so I get the "Err" message and it switches back to the radio.
this sounds like the "pin switches" are set wrong, I had this happen when I installed mine, I hit one of the small switches by mistake, check these again

I am guessing your trouble is somewhere between the rear cd connection and to the ipod, You say if you hook up the changer you can switch to cd, when the ipod is hooked up you can't switch to cd, That tells me the head unit isn't finding the isimple (pac-audio). Also you have to give it a few mins to find the ipod, I waited like 5 mins the first time. It won't be a fuse because you said the radio works.
I don't know where else to look. ipod adaptor is my guess.
Okay, here's the deal for anyone else who may experience problems similar to mine.
What you need to do if your battery dies (and I'm assuming that was what caused the problems). I unhooked every plug from one another. I set all the switches to on then all to off. Then I put 3 and 8 in the on position and plugged everything back up. Got in the car and it was working.
I don't know if all the switches need to be switched, I just did that for the hell of it, but what I am sure of from Pac-Audio's website is that the switches have to be set BEFORE they're hooked up to the car's plug.
Okay, so I'm good again. Thanks everyone for the help. Glad I didn't go and buy a aftermarket HU.
