What must be replaced to upgrade the head unit, besides the head unit?
I ask this because while searching on crutchfield I noticed they advised buying a 90 dollar wiring kit to aid with the install. They mentioned something about BOSE making installation a pain in the *** without the kit.
If I was you I would talk to dennis from double d mods he's a great guy and he has the adapters alot cheaper than that because you will need it if you want any bass to speak of. Without the adapter the factory subs don't work and it sounds like crap. He just did a double din mod for me it looks totaly factory

I could live without having any bass for a while. Right now I'm living on the radio and it's driving me crazy!
I bought the ipod interface from Dennis a few weeks ago but I think since then my HU decided to take a crap, which is why I'm wanting to just ditch it and buy another.

To change the head unit you will need a ROEM-VET1 interface to connect the new head unit with out cutting the factory wiring, What the interface does is enable you to use the new unit with the factory Bose amps. It works out rather well. As said before contact Dennis (c5 Bearsfan) on here, He is a vendor and he goes well beyond the sale, Great prices to boot.
If you want to go a Double Din unit you will also need a custom bezel also from DoubleDMods.com
