[Z06] Clutch Problems! Please Help!
I've owned it since 4,000 miles and usually do Ranger's clutch fluid change a couple of times a year.
About a month ago, I took it to the dragstrip for the first time and did rangers method right before I went. I believe I made 6 passes on a 1/8th mile strip.
I never got around to changing the fluid after taking it to the strip. I've driven the car regularly since then without issue, both around town and a couple of road trips, probably put about 700-800 miles on the car since the strip.
A week ago, I got in the car and made a quick trip to grab lunch and thought the clutch felt a little strange at first, almost like there was a dead zone at the top of the travel that wasn't there before, but it quickly stopped doing it and I chalked it up to being a fluke.
So this weekend I go up to Richmond to visit my brother and the car gets there fine. Sunday morning I come down to my car, and get in to go home. It's doing the clutch thing again with the dead zone at the top of the travel. About a mile down the road, I put the clutch in as I'm coming up to a stoplight and the clutch goes to the floor and stays there. I manage to get the shifter into neutral, but I'm locked out of all the gears. Finally after messing with it for a few minutes, i get back into first, but the clutch is still to the floor and when I let off the brake, the car moves forward like the clutch is out...even though the car didn't stall when i had the brake on.
So I pull off the road and into the nearest parking lot getting ready to call AAA. While I'm waiting I shut it down and take a look at the clutch fluid, and its pretty black. I then got back into the car and started it up again and the clutch was working normally...
I drove it back from Richmond to Charlottesville without incident and figured maybe I just need to do a clutch fluid change. So I did Rangers method this morning and afterwards get in the car for a spin, and its doing the same thing. After letting it warm up in my garage, the clutch starts acting normally again.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
