Default What shifter?

What shifter do you have in your Z's, and how well do you like it?

My Z has a B&M and I am not that fond of it. It came in the car when I bought it, and it seems too... "clunky" (that's the best I can decribe it, sorry.) It's hard to shift quick and its very stiff. It just doesn't suit me as a driver...some may like this feel.

So, I'm looking to change shifters and tossed around the idea of a C6 Z06 shifter, but I'm looking for opinions on what everyone has (aside from stock) and how they like it to help support my decision.

This is the one I will get ( MGW ), I have heard a lot of good things about it, a little stiff in the beginning but gets better with use = http://www.mgwltd.com/corvette_short..._shifter.shtml

I have the mgw its a bit stiff at first but a really nice shifter you wont miss a shift with it. Supposedly the latest gen of them dont have the heavy centering springs so it should be easier to get into reverse. I had a hurst and a b&m took both out in favor of the mgw You wont regret getting one.

All aftermarket shifters will have that same stiff feel. The C6Z shifter doesn't feel like that because it's just an OEM shifter with a different angle to it. I have the MGW, and I've gotten used to the feel of it. I'll never go back to OEM

I had a B&M in my last car and loved it. I went with the MGW in my Corvette because there were such great reviews (about the product and the seller). Anyways, it sounds like you might like to try the anti-venom mod. It, like EVERYTHING else, has gotten mixed reviews, but it might be worth a shot for you since I doubt switching shifters is going to alleviate your problem.

I have had the breathless, and the hurst. I now have the 2010 Z06 shifter. What a dream for street driving. I will never go back. Very easy install and good price from Gene Cully.

I have the B&M Ripper with a Delrin short **** and like it.I did the Anti-Venom mod with 3 washers AND changed the fluid to Amsoil ATD.

These 2 things gave me a firm but easy shift with a nice "snic-snic" sound to it.

It may not be for you,but it worked well for me.

This has been done on my car... about 3 weeks ago now, and it made a little difference, but not a whole lot.

Thanks for letting me know that. As much as I like the solid feel of my MGW, I can help but wonder what it would feel like if it was a little smoother. Guess I wont waste my time. The B&M I had in my old 911 was p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Positive shifts that just felt so smooth. I guess that had more to do with that cars transmission though.

well then maybe the C6 would be better for you. I just didn't like how far the shifter had to travel with the stock ones. I felt like I was shifting an 18-wheeler. meh. Good luck with your choice!

I tried the MGW, and it was too stiff...
I tried the C6Z, and it was too soft...
I tried the MTI, and it was just right.

I had the shortened/bent stock shifter which I liked, but now I switched over to a C6 shifter and I'm very pleased with it. For everyday driving I find it great.

Identical to what I'd say except that my first shifter was a Kirban.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I have a friend that has a C6Z, so I may just see if I can swap his shifter into mine and see how I like it first... if I don't, I guess I'll have to go buy the MTI, which seems to be a popular choice.
