It's done. As can be seen in the video, the early C5 FOB in passive mode unlocks the car as I approach (it's in my pocket and none of it's buttons need to be pushed) then the Lexus button controls ACC,ACC+IGN,ACC+IGN+START and STOP. The brake pedal is pressed before the start button for starting the engine. The FOB in passive mode locks the car when leaving which disables all start button functions.

Very impressive. I notice you didn't add to this post from October of last year till now. Probably a good idea with all the negative naysayers. I had no idea whether you could do it or not but I knew that YOU believed you could. Waiting to hear from some previous posters.
The FOB or key needs to unlock the car or car door before the start button will function, if the door is unlocked by hand from the inside with the top down and then the door is opened then the alarm goes off and it won't start.
Awesome job and it doesn't look "Hacked" up as DBF was complaining about. I'm glad you proved the naysayers wrong.
When are you going to start manufacturing the kit and instructions?
AGAIN, why? If he still has to carry a fob, is a key that hard to carry with it-WASTE OF TIME and money. Can't wait till the electrical grmlins start on this-should be more than amusing.

Some people just love push-button starters... I probably would never do this, but it isn't my car...
I'd also be interested in seeing the write-up; just out of sheer curiosity.

I can't imagine you really can't figure this out on your own.
Why do you have a Corvette? A Honda will more reliably get you to your job and at a fraction of the MPG. Why do you do this? I can't wait for your column to lock up or your battery to drain... IDIOT. JEEZ, what were you thinking.
He did it because he likes it and because he can and because people find it cool and interesting. Should we all drive 100% stock Vettes? That would be awful boring and I don't see what you gain by always knocking people.
Also the C6 as far as I know have to carry the Fob with them too??
Not bad for determination. The install looks clean too. it's too bad this can only work for 97-99 cars with passive remotes.
Theoretically though, if you are standing close enough to the car for the FOB to unlock the doors, your car can be stolen easily.
The C6 approach FOBs can only work from a couple of feet away from the door.
The C5 FOB has a much longer range.
