Default Wheel opinions

Im new to the whole corvette scene. i just bought my c5 last week. 1998 SSM targa top. I want to buy some lowering bolts to lower it a bit more. but im going to be buying the rear fenders from westcoastcorvette.com to stick wider wheels on it... soo... these are the wheels i have narrowed it down too... just give me your opinion on which wheel, and what sizes look the best. 18/19 or 19/20 (all wheels except ccw's will be flat black with red pin-stripeing, ccw's will be chrome)

CCW 505a wheels. either 18x9 and 19x12, or 19x9 and 20x12

Iforged Swift wheels. either 18x9 and 19x12 or 19x9 and 20x12

or forgeline DE3S wheels. either 18x9 and 19x12 or 19x9 and 20x12

Wheel choice is very subjective, so you have to decide which style is best for you. As far as sizing, I think staggered sizes look the best, especially if you're getting fender flares. I have iForge Aeros in 18x9.5 and 19x11, with 325-30s on the rear. Mine are all chrome, but I really like the all black, with a red pinstripe look, depending on car color. I don't know the condition, or special modifications your '98 has, but you're dropping a whole lot of money on a pretty old car. If you added the thousands of dollars that you'll be spending on mods to the cost of your car, you could have gotten alot newer/upgraded model, IMHO. Whatever, good luck with your 'Vette.

Opinions?

Huge wheels look like crap with the pee-wee factory brakes in there. A massive 20 inch wheel with dorky rear calipers that look like they belong on a Ford Fiesta.

I like 18/19 over the 19/20

I don't like black wheels because they hide the lines and only look good on certain (few) cars.

So.... that narrows my choice to the CCWs polished in 18/19 with an eye towards the future spending $1600 on a C6Zo6 brake kit to make it all balanced.

CCW 550 instead of 505...see if you can get brushed finish.

I like my 19/19 setup, 305*30*16 & 275*30/19, it allows the front wheels and tires to look more balanced with the car, the front wheel well looks like it fills in better, and I've had absolutely ZERO problems with TC.

I dont like the new style vettes honestly. My 98 is SSM and it only has 20k original miles on it to date. very well kept. never seen snow. I plan on upgrading the brakes to baer breaks and rotors. but i have 19/19 now and i dont mind it. but the 18/19 looks good as well.

i saw a video on youtube a while ago of a user named "z06kid" and his vette had the fender flares with black wheels and red striping and it looked really good.

or forgeline DE3S wheels. either 18x9 and 19x12 or 19x9 and 20x12

DE3S would look very nice in an 18/19 combo. You have unlimited choice with Forgeline including centerlock converison and titanium hardware. How about flat balck center/inner rim, goss black lip, and red pin-stripping? That would have some contrast and visual appeal.

PM me if you want price for Forgeline's wiwth or without tires. Running an introductory special.
