I looked under the search tab and couldnt find what i was looking for.. I currently have 2.73's in the rear differential of my c5.. i was looking to swap to 3.42's from a manual c5.. Just wanted to make sure that it is a simple swap just Remove and Reinstall.. Dont want to buy a differential off a manual vehicle and get stuck with it..
So can the stock one just be removed and i reinstall the 3.42's exactly same way? any programming need to be done to vehicle after
Friends dad is a foreman at local chevy dealer so work would be done by him, Now the moer that i look into it... just checked and diff under the car is a 3.15, now when i look it it it doesnt make since from 3.15 to 3.42's.... Maybe just a stall converter and call it good enough.. like a yank 3200 lockup converter..? anyone? i have run 12.822 at 108 with custom tune vararam ls6 manifold. Long tube highflow cats and axle back... for sure i will be doing a camshaft next year as i have already bought everything,
Will a 3200 stall and a camshaft get me to low 12's or high 11's? best was 12.822 on street tires
Yes, it has to be re-tuned. The tranny will not shift correctly due to the lower gearing, once you switch to the 3.42's.
Any good tuner can do this easily for you.
Thanks, Just looked but for the same $ or less i can do a yank converter in it and pickup at least .3 at the track... Just need to figure out what the best stall speed now...
I haqve a Z06 3.42 diff with an FLP Level IV tranny and Vigilante 2800 stall TC in my 02 vert. Great performance with my 580 rwhp! Changing form a 2.73 to a 3.42 will result in an approximate 25% increase in rpms while cruising and a corresponding reduction in gas milage.
