Lately I've begun noticing a creaking/springy noise when easing out on the clutch slowly and applying power to the wheels. It seems to be coming from the rear of the car. I'm not sure if this is axle/differential/bearing related, or if it's just normal drivetrain noise?
Here's a good post with pictures and procedures to correct the rear spindle clunking. Doesn't cost much to do this except time and materials (cleaner and cycle chain lube) (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-bearings.html)
(Some folks say you need to install a new spindle nut, but the FSM does not say this. The nut is made with interference and trust me it isn't moving once torqued.)
Look at jbauch357's posts on page 2.
It's not a permanent fix, they get corroded with use. Mine lasted about a year, I'm about ready to do it again as they are creaking again. Do the right rear first, that may all that is necessary.
