Backup camera wires routing
I appreciate any help you can give. ack:
I dont have an external antenna, mine is made in my from windshield. So what I did was drilled high through the back fiberglass tub that backs up to license plate frame. I installed the grommet that came with the camera. I dont think there will be water nor moisture issues as I never take it out in the rain.
Also, look to see if you are telling the head unit that the car is in reverse
You usually have to splice into the reverse light lead somewhere (doesnt have to be back by the lights, I grabbed mine up in the cab on my wifes truck) and connect that to the appropriate wire on the head unit harness so it knows to switch to that feed when you put it in reverse.Good luck
Ugh....running wires. I recently finished my wifes truck, running the wires and soldering all the connections took all the time. I actually layed out the XM antena to be in the back (up top, on an SUV), it layed out with plenty of wire to spare. Started at the back (antenna is larger) and ran it all the way up front, pulled the header, side mouldings....got to front, ten inches too short

Oh well, wound up mounting it above passenger up front. Came out nice.
Moral :measure twice, cut (and snake it through) once

Good luck with your install

hi did you know where is that wire in c5(cabine)
thanks
I did my wifes truck, and on that (being unable to easily identify a spot on the harness by looking at stuff I could find on the net) I just went back to the rear reverse lights, found which wire color went hot (had a voltage when the car was put in reverse), noted the color of that wire, and then just traced the loom back towards the front of the vehicle.
I opened the harness in the cab and tested any wire I found with the same color, only took a minute to find the right one.
You can either cut it, which allows you to slip on some heat shrink tubing to seal it up nice when you splice the wire going to the head unit it) or just remove some insulation and Tsplice onto the existing wire.
Id recommend soldering any connections you make, squeeze on taps and other butt connectors may be ok, but a soldered wire splice (almost) never fails.
If you cant find it up front, the C5 is so small and easey to route wires that you can always just splice into the reverse light hot lead right at the light itself. Its an easy run from there through the rear speaker surround (assuming a coupe) and then down under the trim over the rocker panel along the rail and up into the dash.
Good luck
