Default Shipping a motor

I have never had anything shipped this size before. Do I just go through UPS or Fedex, or is it best to go through a freight company? Thanks.

Both FedEx and UPS have freight divisions. I would think that you'll need to pallet-ize and then shrink wrap the engine at the minimum, and probably have a crate built at the other end of the scale.

There are other common carriers that might be a little cheaper.

Default Forward Air

The cheapest way to ship large, heavy items is by Forward Air. Despite the name, they are a trucking company. To use them you must take the item, ready to ship, to their facility, which will be near an airport. It will be delivered to their facility near the airport you choose. The person receiving the item must go to that facility and pick it up. There is no door to door service.

Contact any experienced engine builder and ask them how do they ship engins. Through trial and error, they know.
