I have a 2001 auto coupe. Last week I started to get the Reduced power on the DIC and it wouldn't start. If I waited it out it would start. Than yesterday It did it twice and threw various faults and showed low voltage 6.1V on the DIC. It finnally started and the DIC climbed to 13.2V. I got it home and put a charger on it and put the key in it and turned it on and the gages pulsed and the DIC readout pulsed for a couple of seconds and than acked normal and the car started right up. I get to work and shut the car off and than turn the key back on and get Reduced power and Low voltage. I think the Battery, which is only a year old, might be bad. Your thoughts. I look in the service manual and it says thats what it could be.
Thanks in advance. Laurence

Update
Went out to see if the car would start and it did. It kicked 1518 which can be caused by low voltage and now the odometer reading is in the DIC and won't clear.
The best thing you can do is to go to C5 Tech and read the sticky "Important Electrical Information" by Bill Curlee. Next, I'd start by cleaning the ground connectors under the hood on the two frame rails, and making sure the battery connections are tight. Then, follow the instructions in the sticky to locate and clean the electrical connections in the rubber accordion between the dash and each door. There are two connections on each side.
Well, I've been thru this, in fact I'm still going thru it and my problem still happens occasionally but my problem was definitely is a ground issue. You got to go through all your chassis grounds, and clean them up. It's a pain in the butt and I'm still working on each of them myself, but it's currently working for me. If you don't clean them up, the problem will just get worse at the most inopportune times.
All the credit to my ground fix goes to a Bill Curlee writeup. The fact is, if you do a search on the forum you will find lots of problems and answers to this exact problem.

Feel free to pm me if I can help, I will

Thanks Bruce,
Grounds crossed my mind but looking at the service manuals it got me side tracked. I know there are 13 grounds. I'll look at the thread that Bill posted and start on the grounds. Thanks laurence

ell got home and started looking at the grounds and the driverside by the headlight was pristine. Pulled the battery and found corrosion on the three ground lead there so cleaned them up and put back together and I'll see if that fixed the problem. I took it for a spin and it started right up but I'll drive it tomorrow and see if I have any problems. Thanks for the help.

Well that didn't fix it per say. I drove it to work today and it started right up. Went to lunch and stopped to pick up some Meds and when I came out dead. Wouldn't turn over. Just click. I was smart enough to put a 8 mm wrench in the car and disconnected the pos battery terminal and reconnected and it started right up no codes. So, I'm back to the drawing board checking the other grounds and connections in the door.
