Still very much speculation. It hasn't been made public yet to anyone thus far!
No speculation, only one guy here is speculating.
Take a look at Ken Fichtner's column...all will be answered... NO CHANGES!!! :chevy :seeya
No speculation, the dealers have gotten the info, NO CHANGES, just like some of our very own inside guys said MONTHS ago, good undercover work guys :yesnod: :yesnod:

Crow tastes better when you just eat it fast and get it over with. Not only is there no HP increase, there is no 50th anniv. Z06. Bummer dude! :( :cry :( :cry
Personally, I'd buy an '02 for cheap and enjoy it for the next two years. Since this will be your first 'Vette, buying the quickest one ever built is a good way to start. :smash:
With all the speculation on the 2003 Z-06 NOT having any hp increase or anv. package, why would you spend all that extra $$ for it anyway? I could see it if there were an anv. addition or at least a hp increase but to pay $5K for seat embroidering & maybe badges doesn't seem practical to me. it would make more sence to wait till the 2003's come out then buy a new (leftover) 2002 for a significant savings.
After careful and in-depth study, taking into consideration all facts available to me and giving consideration to strange and annoying need to be noticed by others, even at the expense of their own reputation, I've come to the conclusion that 50thZ06 is impersonating..........
........... CHICAGO ROSS. Some of us old-timers know what happened to HIM! And let's not forget our friend WILLA!
Might I suggest the same thing for this nitwit? Or will we simply tire of hearing from him and just ignore his silly posts? Perhaps if we ignore him, he'll go elsewhere to get his jollys. In any event, his reputation is worthless here, and I won't bother to read anything he posts or responds to, including my rant here.
Thanks guys for the info, I haven't been following the ZO-6 forum for a while. I have a 00 conv, 6 spd, and am thinking ZO-6 or Viper. Just looking for the facts. Just the facts. It would be really nice if the 03 ZO-6 had 425-450 hp ...maybe someday. Anybody getting 450 RWHP? and with what mods?
Thanks, Dave :flag :chevy
Yes, Ross was a guy who disputed everyone on everything, started arguements where none were warranted, made things up to stir things up, etc etc. He enjoyed seeing people talk about him, I think. Made him feel important. He wasn't actually a troll, as he was a longtime member from when this forum started. But he did have that troll quality of keeping the whole forum agitated. After many, many warnings, his plug was pulled and peace returned to the forum (except for the Intake Wars!!!). Since that time, the owner and the moderators have been far less tolerant of troublemakers, and rightfully so. This is a huge forum, and there are surprisingly few troublemakers here.
However, I must say that 50thZ06 does exhibit "Ross-like" tendencies. I hope the moderators keep their collective eyes on him.
As for the thread that savewave mentioned....good point. Name calling ain't right, and I should have thought twice before using "nitwit" in describing 50thZ06. I will avoid reading his posts, however.
Initially it was intending to be 385hp for 01, 405hp for 02, and 425hp for 03. That was reveiled when the 01 Z06 was comming out. Some are speculating that GM was ready with the 425hp version, but are not producing it b/c of the upcomming C6. There has been a resent history of GM wanting to make HP inprovements that don't overlap future models... example the 96 LT4 had 330hp (underrated) and the next year the base C5 had 345hp. Maybe some the engines for the C6 '04 were going to come in close to or lower than the 425hp, so from a marking perspective GM backed out of the improvement.
My guess is they are milking the 50th Anniv thing to sell cars for '03, and then bump it to 425 hp if there is a C5 Z06 for '04. Actually, I'm not really sure what we will have for '04, does anyone know at this point?
I agree with your thinking. GM most certainly has a very carefully thought-out marketing plan (milking plan!!).....even the most lowly consumer item has such a plan, so you can be sure a mega-corporation does that for their flagship car.
But I think we could stop seeing their plans as "sinister" or otherwise wrong. After all, it is their car and their company and their plan. If they want to hold off on 425 hp until the C6 (assuming they EVER plan to offer that much power), that's their business. I wish people would stop bashing GM over this. Who would have ever thunk, back in 1996, that we would have the 405 hp Z06 supercar available to us mere mortals.
Good points. I'm not complaining, except that I still don't have one! I've been following the '03 info with much anticipation, since that will be the year model Z06 I purchase. 405 hp in such an affordable package, for such a great car is amazing. I can't wait!

I ain't complaining, noooooo sir!!
It probably wasn't in reference to me, but I don't see GM's plans as "sinister or wrong, and don't think that was reflected in my post. I could care less, but wouldn't buy another vette untill the C6 b/c of the impact on resales.... and I'm happy with my 2000 Hardtop.
