Well i am happy to say that i am now the owner of a 2001 Z06 I have wanted a Corvette for as long as i can remember and this is truly a dream come true. Found a great deal on this one with only 5,060 miles on it. Someone never enjoyed it but i intend to Couldn't be happier with it thus far and next summer i play to do some mild modding (exhaust, intake, etc). Here's a pic and i am very excited to become a part of this community. Forum seems so helpful and welcoming- a far cry from most other car forums.
First of all welcome to CF. Some great people w/lots of good info. And congrats on your 5K miler. That's incredible. Tons of fun these Z06's and great way to start out. Be sure to make some shows with it and put some miles on it. Might read up on the Sticky titled "Weights, measurements..." on top of C5 General Discussion
btw: consider the Intro portion. Just click Forums in the red banner, then 'Main' & Intro on top
also add your location to the Avator at 'User CP' so we know where you're coming from

Welcome to the ZO6 community. Great car for your first Z, my first as well. I've got 26k trouble free miles on my '01 but just keep your eye on the oil level as this model tends to burn a bit more than normal.
if those are the original tires they probably need to be replaced.
check them over for cracking before you do some high speed blasting around.
They gotta go even at speed limits. If you plan to track the car use them for that purpose only. Or, if you plan to replace the stock wheels, keep them intact w/the wheels if you got room to store them, or, sell the stock tires on the cheap to someone that tracks. Consider Mich's.
Thanks for the kind words and great info everyone. I have been wondering a little bit about the tires. They seem to break loose pretty easily (Normal for this type of car of course) but was wondering if age was exacerbating the issue. They don't seem to be cracking, and i have the whole winter to find some new ones if i do decide to make a change. Also, I have been to three shows and put on almost a thousand miles since I have had it (three weeks ) so no need to worry about this poor Z sitting idle anymore!
We have had our '01Z for 12 months now, when we got it she had 3100 miles on her. We have over 20,000 on her now, what a great car. Keep an eye on the oil level, drive hard, and have fun.
