I am a new member of the the forum and thinking of buying my first Corvette. I am hoping I can get some advice on a 2000 Vette I am going to see for the first time tomorrow. My questions are as follows:
1. What is the opinion on a hatchback verus a convetible?
2. The car I am looking at has 26000 miles and the owner is asking $19,000 good price???
3. What were the colors that year?
4. Any thing special to look at?
As it is in S. Florida and has been garage kept I assume it is in good condition. Also the owner stated he just put four new tires on it.
Thank you all in advance.

We have a 2000 "hatchback" coupe and love it. The one thing we like about the hatchback is the extra storage space that really comes in handy for cross country traveling.
At 26,000 miles, that Vette is hardly broken in. $19,000 sounds a little high, but check out the car using CarFacts or something similar. If the car is a one-owner, contact a dealer to check recalls, repair history, etc. Especially check to see of the steering column lock mod has been applied.
Check the tires. If they're the original run flats, you should seriously think about replacing them for safety.
I really like my hatchback and it does have a lot of room in the back. I would not want a convertible and I do a lot of driving with the top off my car, but I just would not want a vert. Just my personal preferance.
19, 000 doesnt sound to bad depends on the car if its a garage kept nice weather only car then I cant argue with it.
I would check out the tires under the front bumper for paint scrapes and the wheels for curb rash.(Tells if the driver was careful and knew what he/she was doing) The seats are also good to look at for wear.
Funny people think 19k is a little high at only 26000 mile
I think it is pretty cheap. It is a corvette in South Florida. I would not sell my 2002 with 67,000 miles for $19,000. I would consider selling it for $24,000 and the key word is consider... People are not going to give their car away. If the car is in good condition than if you want it buy it...

There have been recalls from GM to repair a potential problem with the steering column lock apparently locking while you're driving the car. At least that's what the service manager told me when I had the recall mods installed in my coupe.
Do a search in this forum. Lots of discussions on the problem and lots of recommended fixes too.
