99 C5 M6 vs 05 Cts-V

99 C5 M6 vs 05 Cts-V
What would be the outcome my vehicle is a 99 corvette M6 with an intake and thats it.My buddies V M6 has a k&N cold air intake,full headers exhaust,His car redlines at 7000rpm dont know if thasts normal.He mentioned his car comes with 3.73 gears stock.A few rolls will be done so if you must know the race is on just wanted to see what you guys think before it happens.I always thought of my car to be a stout vette compared to others will see what happens

i don't think this will be a smoking. The v has the ls6 motor my friend had an 05. He is making with headers and intake most likely i would say 50 more then you give or take. He does weigh 500lbs more as well but has better gearing. I think it a drivers race.

Should be close, But a V with the LS6 & headers and probably a tune I might say you have your hands full. Just make sure you're in the correct gear from a roll. Why don't you also try from a stop.

The best I could manage with my 99 6-speed at the track when it was stock was 13.3, which is ballpark for most vettes that age I've seen run. I've found that what magazines print and what you see at the track are 2 different things. Most C-5 's were even higher times but I chalk that up to inexperienced drivers with little track time.

I would agree it might be closer than you think. Hopefully this race will be happening on a track too.

Okay well heres how it went we mainly did 1st and 2nd gear rolls.I had a 280lbs. passanger and after all the races I had both my windows down. 1st race was done from a 30-120 I pulled by 2 car lengths. 2nd race 30-90 he got the jump and we shut down because we were comming to a curve had him by half a car.rest of the races were from 40-140 those were pretty even I kept having him by half a car.Over all These were some good races everyone kept saying that he was going to walk me.I did one other race against a 2010 camaro ss M6 I kept walking him but I didnt record it.My buddy has all the races in his Blackberry allthough I have no clue how to upload them so you guys can view them anyone know how???All though on the last race we were we were comming to a light so I had to reduce my speed dramatically my Service TCS and ABS light came on the screen now it wong go away but I have this posted on the scan and tune section if anyone can help me out.Thanks for looking

Oh yes, I'm sure this was done on a track. It was one of those pesky tracks that has curves and lights on 'em. But they only were going up to 120 so that isn't much of a problem. Well, only 140 once and we all know that even that is a slow speed. These cars have ABS and can stop on a dime if someone gets in the way.

i thought for sure he was going to take you especially with you having a passenger i have an 01 with a 6speed that is bone stock except a cat back i raced an auto 06 gto with 390rwhp and got walked by about 3 car lengths. as far as your service abs and TCS i had the same thing happen to me i got my car up to 140 and some got in my lane i slammed on the brakes so hard i almost did a face plant on my windshield and my service abs traction control active handling came on i took it to the dealer they scanned it and erased the codes the light has yet to come back on ive read on here several forum posts that if the light stays on its the ebcm and its an expensive fix if you buy it from the dealer

Man is their any other way to go around the dealer fix???But on the race with the cts V I was surprised my self he has some vids on youtube if I post them or the links on here will the Mods. allow it???Anyhow he raced a 03 c5 with intake and catback and he walked the vette by 2 cars.Like I said before I always thought of my vette to be stout compared to others I want to race a C5 z06 to see how my car compares to them.If anyone in the atl has a basically stock c5 z06 I want to run it if anyone is up for it...
