Default alternator question

I am about to start my header install, and want to do it correctly with minimal issues -yeah right.

I have removed/installed alternators on older cars, but never on a c5. can someone give me quick lesson?

nothing special...
Loosen and unplug....
C5's are fussy about using a differnent alternator than stock, but otherwise no different than any other car.

1) remove serpentine belt
2) remove red battery cable (make sure battery is disconnected)
3) unplug wire bundle from rear of alternator
4) remove two bolts holding alternator to mounting bracket

Alternator should come right off.

I know this may sound stupid, but anything special to remove the belt?

No...the tensioner is the pulley attached to the water pump. Attach a 15mm socket to the pulley bolt and push forward (clockwise) to relieve tension to the belt. This will give you enough slack to remove the belt. Might as well replace the belt with a gatorback while you're at it
