I think $19,995 is a excellent price for a 2002 with only 35k original miles especially from a dealer. I purchased my '99 6spd Coupe privately during the Summer in August with 36k miles for under $15k and thought I did well considering the Mint Shape my car was in as it came with virtually new tires all around and a new Optima battery installed plus the car had no issues. It runs great and looks like new inside and out other then a few scratches and some very small chips in the front of the car.

I looked all over for a C5 and cars similiar to the 2002 we are talking about here are going for $22k to $25k from what I saw and still see outside of this forum.

Kudos to the OP for using a "C" in the word adviCe. It's rare.
Can I pm you the car when I get home?

my understanding is they do and they even buy cars outright....I didn't trade just paid cash.....they put all their cars on ebay and they can be bought usually $500-$1000 less than their buy it now price when you go to the showroom.....plus the showroom computer price is higher than the Ebay price too....so just make sure you know what the car is priced at on ebay....and if you call them on the phone they will tell you the bottom $ on the car....they even put new tires on mine and I wasn't even pushing that issue ....this is what the salesman told me about their pricing....I found my car on ebay when just messing around and then went and drove it as having never driven one I wasn't even sure I would like a Vette as I once had Trans Am for about 6 months...that is as long as I could stand it...lol

If you trade you're gonna get hosed.

Sell you car and then buy from a private party.

Dealer and honest are 2 words that don't ever go together.

$17K for a 76K 2001 Coupe is not a very good price. Then they'll add dealer fees and tax.

Bought an EB 02 ZO6 last year PP with 34k miles for $20K. NO tax and no BS dealer.

Does it have HUD? Dual AC? other options.

My mom doesn't have the credit to get a loan from the bank so we have to finance with a dealer through a nationwide company like GMAC. I wish I could go private party but can't. And I've had my car on the market for a month with no interest at all so trade in is only option

Has hud, bose, dual ac

Hate to be the one to tell you but a minor has no business in a Vette.

Drive what you have a save your cash until you're not a minor and you'll be able to buy your own Vette. IMHO

Well right now I have a 2011 genesis coupe and I'm taking the responsibility to lessen the burden on my mom which is why I'm getting rid for a cheaper car so that she goes from a $25,000 loan at $490 a month @72 months to one about $18,000 at about $325 a month @ 60 months

I could have this totally wrong and I will re-read the posts, but this comes off more like you are hosing mom and using her car and credit to get a Corvette.

Your insurance on a Corvette as a new driver will be crazy. You'll probably close the gap pretty quick on the difference in those car payments.

I got my first Corvette when I was about 23 and it had a whopping 165 horsepower (thankfully). Even at my age and driving experience, it is not a car you just "punch and go" without being very sure you know what you're doing. All of this means nothing to you I am sure. I would not have listened at your age either, but it does not mean it should not be said. I think the responsible thing to do would be to educate yourself about credit and finance and help you and your mom be able to get the best deal you can, not the ONLY deal you can.

Forgot to address one other point. That 2011 car that has a balance of 25k just depreciated by about $5000.00. Take that 20k and the fact that on a trade you'll get lowballed. You are responsible for the delta between what is owed and what is offered. So that 7-8 thousand is going to (best case) be added to the Corvette loan and you are instantly upside down. Bad move.

We already got a quote and it's less for the corvette than it is the genesis. I respect these cars a lot. I test drove one last night and was barley touching the throttle at all because I've seen what these cars can do(and the gas pedal assembly is strange) while the salesman on the other hand floored it and on the way back after a u turn that he took at like 45 hit about 115 and said I should try and the most I could muster was taking the u turn at 15 and getting up to about 85 before letting off. Only time I'll floor it is at the strip cause at what takes my car full throttle to do, the corvette doesn't even need half throttle to do

He'll (I mean She'll) get screwed on the trade so bad it's probably a mute point.

If he really cared about lightening the burden on dear ole mom .. who is no doubt paying the insurance an probably even the gas...he would get rid of the old 2011 car and buy a $2500 beater and pay for it himself.

I can't pay cash for a car as I'm broke. Also when I get a job I will be taking over payments so it's more affordable to pay for around a $300-350 a month car payment than a $500 a month car payment especially since the genesis loan is 72 months while the corvette will be a 60 month loan. Also insurance is cheaper on the vette than it is on the genesis. Also in the genesis I struggle to get 25 mpg highway whereas the corvette can easily get high 20s on the highway

Try a good used Honda and you'll get over 30 mpg

You are a perfect example of the problem with youth today. You want it all now instead of putting out the effort and hard work you parents did.

How about paying your own way in life? Pay for your own rent, utilities and food before you even think about a Vette or any other car.IMHO

This is starting to get me jacked up so I'm done

Dude !! Seriosly? WHEN YOU GET A JOB?

I am sorry, I hate being rude but I really can't help you. My conscience won't let me help you get behind the wheel of a Corvette under these circumstances. I know I said I would go look at the car for you, but I just can't. Sorry.

No job ?
Mom paying ?
Trading her car ?
Bad credit ?
Drag strip?

This is so obviously a mistake that the mere fact you don't see it as a mistake, is just another reason WHY it is a mistake.

Maybe this is all an attempt to "punk" the forum.
