Default Mid america question

I just received the new Mid-America catalog. They have a new product called Ultra Vinyl. I have been looking at a console cushion for a while. They also have a shift boot and a e-brake boot.

Anybody have any thoughts on the quality on these items? How hard is it to replace these two items?

Thanks

Replacing the items is actually pretty easy. If you go to the Vette Essentials web site (www.vetteessentials.com), they have some excellent instructions for this.

As far as the quality, I'd say it is middle of the road - better than some, but definitely not as good as say a Vette Essentials piece. Other options to look at would be Redline stuff - it's not bad at all.

I researched man made vinyl a few years ago when I was building a modified '57 Chevy 150 sedan. My previous '55 Chevy 210 sedan had real leather and it was stunning. Nothing like the look and smell of real leather to finish off an interior. But it was cost prohibitive at $5,000 and up.

I found out that man made vinyl, aka PLEATHER, ULTRA LEATHER, ULTRA SUEDE, ALCANTARA and others, is actually more wear resistant. It's water/stain resistant and more pliable. More colors are available. It's easier to mold and sew. It's what LEAR uses in their jets. It's what PROVOST uses in their motor coaches.

Man made vinyl as opposed to the skins of the wild Vinyl that roam the jungles?

"Do you know how many polyesters they had to kill to make this suit?"

if it's a choice. sometimes you don't get to choose. if you want the part, you either settle or find someone who can custom make it for you. admittedly there aren't too many corvettes add ons that you can't find in high grade materials.

Just thought I'd let you know, I ordered a vinyl console lid from mid america over three months ago and still haven't received it. Every time I call, they say it should be arriving soon. I've lost faith in that company, so beware.

Personally I am not a huge fan of MA.

Quality vs price seems to be very lop sided.
