Default Seat Memory Quirks

I've had this problem for quite some time. It's more of an annoyance than anything.

After I unlock the car via the FOB, I get into the seat, insert the key and the seat only moves forward an inch or two. Pressing the '1' button on the door moves the seat forward a bit, but not to the programmed location.

It'll require multiple presses and the seat inches forward at every press.

Any ideas?

Try cleaning the seat connectors to the car floor location, then reset and memorize the seat positions again.

I think this is related to the control switches just below the drivers seat and having a rain leak at some point. At any rate, I was told these switches are a bear to get to but they need to simply be taken apart and clean the contacts. Maybe hit them with some 10-W-40 and put them back together.

This is on my to do list for this winter.

I'm planning on hitting them with some WD-40 tomorrow.

Thanks dgrant3830! Thanks for the link, wcdaniel!

Well the main module is the SCM which is located in the seat itself but, it interfaces to the LDCM and of course the BCM via the serial data buss. Telescoping steering wheel memory and function is handled by the SCM just an FYI.

You know.....

Sometimes I think they made these cars complicated just because they could.

I have a similar problem in that when I put the key in the ignition (sometimes - not always) the seat repositions itself a little down and back from where it was. It does not do this if I have just gotten out and back in (doesn't matter how many hours). It only does this if I have opened and shut the door or the hatch or removed/replaced the targa top (both doors and the hatch) without starting the car.

I did do the seat rock fix and I stopped using the easy-entry option at the same time. I'm wondering if I need to 're-index' the seat memory somehow. It seems to think that it is further forward and higher than it actually is and adjusts accordingly. I've done all the easy stuff - pulling the battery, the seat, shutoff easy entry, relearned the fobs, reset the memory locations. Nada.

LOL My car never had a good memory! I shut it off and figured since I drive it 99% of the time that I did not need the wear and tear of the constant(wrong) readjustments.

I use the easy entry option on mine and the seat memory always puts everything in the right spot... When it decides to move it. About 1 time out of 5 when i get in the car, close the door and put the key in the ignition it will roll everything into place. The other 4 out of 5 times I actually have to hit the button to make everything respond. It ALWAYS works if there is someone in the passenger seat who's never been ina car with memory function seats though...

Try pulling fuse #4 in the passenger footwell fusebox, and leave it out for about 15 minutes-this will give the seat memory a "clean slate",and possibly make everything work as it should.
The memory settings went screwy on mine about a year ago,and someone on the forum advised me to pull that fuse to clear the memory, and it's been working fine ever since.

My seats function properly, it is my drivers mirror that doesnt like to position itself correctly. I turned the easy in / easy out option off through the DIC, but when I open the door with the FOB, the mirror likes to take itself out of the proper adjustment. Could my problem and the seat problem be related?

I turned mine off yesterday... I can't help but keep thinking it's just gonna wear it out the more I use it cuz I get in and out of the car so much when I'm driving it on the weekend.

If you press twice quickly on the unlock button on the key FOB, it will set the seat to the programmed position as well as the mirror and other parts.

I turn that function off too. No reason to wear parts and batteries out like that unnecessarily.

Mee too. It never did work right and I always worried that it would get stuck in the "full back" position so I deprogrammed it off. Just one more thing to wear out and cost me $$. Besides, I'm the only driver.
