Wouldn't it be more possible that it was just repainted yellow and the guy is thinking it would be nice if it was a "rare" 3 of a kind color, like the Aztec Gold of '98?

That would be my guess and probably why my friend is trying to get verification from non-financially-interested sources!

The one guy who could probably tell as right away about this "rare" Corvette would be retired Bowling Green plant manager Will Cooksey. He'd be the man.

akriggm sent me the VIN # to look up the build sheet. Here is what I found.
Just looked and the VIN of the car is for a Fairway Green Coupe that was then sent to the CPC Group for GM. So it was not produced at the plant as yellow, but may have been repainted at the Tech Center.

my pleasure, like I said, it is very likely that it could have been repainted in Detroit. In order to do a 1 off color like this is the plant would have gone through a lot of trouble to clean/purge the paint system...
