Hello, folks. I have a low-mile, garage-kept 2003 Coupe. As soon as I got the car a couple of years ago, I ditched the original run-flats for conventional radials, dropping the noise level inside the car substantially. But there is still a fair amount of noise in the cabin, and it SOUNDS like wind noise from around the hatch.
I freely admit my hearing is not that great anymore, and I know that sounds inside a car can be tricky to locate/identify, but maybe some of you can come back with your opinions and experiences. The hatch gaskets seem to be sealing, as onion-skin paper placed in the channel cannot be moved once the hatch is shut. Perhaps I should weld the hatch shut, or caulk it? (kidding).
I tend to have a lot of road noise in my coupe as well. I think a lot still comes from tire noise even though I got rid of the Goodyears and went to Michelins. I also get a lot around my targa top even though it seals pretty well.
Mine just tends to be noisy but most seems to come from road noise.
Check out how the targa top was put on. I have notice over the years I have to be very careful setting the top on. There is a tendency to pinch the weatherstripping at the upper back edge of the side windows. I have heard an air leak twice before and I found the weatherstripping pinched.
Put a very light coating of dialectic grease on all the rubber of your top and on the car where it contacts your top. Helps it to seal. It's in your manual and it does work!

I experience a fair amount of wind noise also. I may have to look into this.

Most likely the wind noise if coming from the side window area - where the hatch meets the window or the window meets the weatherstripping on the vertical side of the door.
Get a roll of that wide blue painters masking tape, tape over the area that you think is making the noise, and go for a freeway run-If the noise goes away, you've found your leak, now you just need to figure out how to fix it.
Note: While just leaving the tape on WILL work,it is not considered "cool" in some circles.
Perhaps I should weld the hatch shut, or caulk it?
No kidding! I've always said that GM should have made a coupe with a "fixed" roof, and the removable one as an option......as with the T-Tops of the earlier Camaros/Firebirds.
And I'm not talking about the Z06, which for some unknown reason was not available with auto transmission.
